Ghosts. What are they? Spirits, souls of the dead, living on after the grave, unaccepted in either Heaven or Hell? Mischievous or vengeful creatures envying ones who retain what they themselves have lost? Unknown forces wandering the Earth past the time their bodies are buried in it?

Whatever I am, I have encountered no other like myself. No one hears wailing moans in dark hallways. No one catches a glimpse of a pale form in the trees at night. No chills run down spines when I enter a room. No dogs bark or cats hiss at my presence. Neither cameras nor mirrors capture my image. I am unseen. Unheard. Unnoticed. Alone.
