Somewhere A Clock Strikes Midnight

Somewhere a clock strikes midnight

Looking up at you

My arms around your neck

Yours around my waist

God, how I love you

Holding me close

And so I forget

That I’m in a gown of fresh-cut lilacs

That the sky’s pouring down on us

That my body is swaying and

I even forget about gravity

Chiming bells

I’m floating

Flowing

Like we’re leaves on a breeze

On a calm steamy day

Unattached to reality

Yearning for you to kiss me

Gallantly unaware

I’ll never look away

Lost but

Found with you

Your smile like an embrace

A sweet blessing

God’s little gift, this moment of happiness

Chiming bells

I’m just a pure spirit

With a little piece of heaven

Your beautiful eyes

Pick me up and swing me around

Dance me away

A cunning rescue, a daring escape

With chiming bells in the courtyard

There is no why

When you look at me

Breathing in a fresh new day

The smell of the sun

The sight of the green grass and rainy air

The damp feeling of grass under my feet

There’s no lightning

No sky

But I have to leave

Somewhere a clock strikes midnight
