Authoritative Fate
My soul is in yours, even though star-crossed fate has no authority here in these woods hidden from streetlights. In the shadow-cover of oaks, my shoeless feet cover shadows;
Step by step,
Silent strides.
Each one brings me closer to where you are:
Your tribal paradise.
High above your smaller brothers, the firelight of torches distorts your face into something frightening. They devour your muscles with fanged retinas, while I devour your eyes.
(Each sweep of your hand moves armies across nations,
But each finger you lay on me in friendship,
Contains the power to part seas and cure plagues.)
Though star-crossed fate has wronged me into sorrow, you receive all that you desire. Mountains fold in your name, and you pay all prices willingly.
What price would you pay for my severed hand?
What would you pay for my heart?
I will not deny you.
