.An Anthem for the Fallen.

By: Felicia Ferraro

I want life to be different,

I want the world to change.

I want to feel safe, secure,

And never be afraid.

I wonder if it will happen.

I pray to God it does.

I live for the day when is hate is gone,

And all that’s left is love.

When one voice is silenced,

A million more are heard.

But think of those who have died,

Those who’ll never get a word.

You act like it is easy,

And that we’ve all got a choice.

How nice of you to speak,

Since you’ve still got a voice.

And even if I’m wrong,

And if you’re right,

I’ll never let myself down,

I’ll never stop the fight.

I am not a monster,

And I’m surely not a man.

I am just a human girl,

With a right to take a stand.

This is not a protest,

It’s my freedom, my life.

And since it’s mine to live,

Who are you to take my wife?

If I truly love her,

And if she’s in love with me,

Why would someone hurt us?

Why won’t you let us be?

They say life is for the living,

And death is for the dead,

But every soul is equal,

When we pray beside the bed.
