not a hipster

want to sit in a coffee shop these days,
be independent and retro cool, but i can’t
stop crying over animal cruelty ads on tv
long enough to get up off the couch, and
i don’t have the motivation to walk over
the river, pretend i’m like the people
who sit and listen to acoustic guitarists
drowning out the sounds of brewing beans
in the background. i don’t drink coffee,
anyway, and my music has more meaning.
