Umbat
By Myriad
Far are we now from that time of the month
When Luna in her sable skies doth reign.
The silver’d light with which she graced us once
Has left us, leaving darkness to remain
Tonight may many tremble, for they want
The overwhelming light to which they cling,
Without whose guidance they must now confront
The great dark sky unknown, yawning, gaping—
But those whose wisdom mediates their fear
And lets them walk wide-eyed into the night
Will see the moon’s forgot cohort appear
Those oft occulted by her argent light.
Hide not your head, though daylight still stands far:
When Moon is dark, then wise men see the stars.
