Vermillion Silence
Author:
Matthew James Current PM
Most of my work is spontaneous and unrevised, but idea for this poem struck me a few days back. Tonight it finally coalesced. It's the first poem I have posted on here in months and months. So I hope that you enjoy it, and that it moves you.

The world's heartbeat slows
Times skitters and skips to a crawl
Colors glow bright
And the rest of the world fades

Green flashes brightly
And the explodes into brilliant red
Life ebbs out into colors
That slowly trickle down
Pooling at our feet
In slowly decaying glory
As the world turns cold

Winter's empty grasp seeps into the earth
Emotions pulse intensely in the waning warmth
Summer's splendor crashes into silence
As the world holds its breath
Waiting for white emptiness to fill the void
Where color now lies
Incandescent in death
