“Why do you hide little one?” asked a boy no older than five as he coaxed a little mouse from hiding and when he did so he picked it up and held the little rodent in his palm and it squeaked at him as if trying to talk with him. “It’s alright, I won’t let that mean old cat eat you” said the boy, as he closed the large wooden door of his room, it was a room of a literal castle. The mouse squeaked again and the boy smiled as he put a little bit of his meager meal to the side, mostly a bit of bread and cheese, for the mouse who started to eat it and there was a banging at the door

“BOY HURRY UP THERE ARE GUESTS IN THE CASTLE!” said a harsh female voice from right outside the door

“Yes ma`am” said the boy as he started for the door only for it to open and hit him in the face

“Get off your lazy good for nothing bottom boy! Or there’ll be no supper for you tonight!” said a heavy set woman and the boy stayed quiet as he stood up, “Boy go get their things before I start to string your backside!” said the woman as she made for the boy and he ran around her and headed to work which was mostly carrying the stuff visitors brought and scrubbing the castle, there was no rest for him except when ordered to bed for even his keeper knew if he was worn out he’d be useless. “Boy I hope for your sake you don’t embarrass me!” said the woman as she pushed him along

“I know, I know little guy, here” said the boy as he fed the mouse he had befriended all those years back. As he fed the mouse there was what sounded like a siege at the castle wall he just ignored it knowing that if he died he’d be freed from his torment. Then it happened, he lost all sense, he couldn’t even move or hear
