Dust motes were dancing in the air, blinking in and out of existence and twinkling like minuscule stars in fading sunlight. The silence was deafening ā drumming, echoing, hurting ā making me wonder if you had spoken at all, if you had been here at all.
I love you was never enough.
Iām sorry will never be enough.
The piano keys were cool beneath my fingertips as I plucked random, solemn notes. Anything to drown out the silence of your absence. Anything to fill the you-sized hole in my heart.
