Look at him, what do you see?
Just another face in the crowd?
Look closer, into his eyes
Now do you see what I see?
Because I see dead eyes
There is no hope, no laughter
Even fear is absent
There is no light shining
The life has simply left
His spirit has been broken
And all that can be seen
Is his ever weary soul
What could have happened?
What could steal away the strive to live?
I didn't understand what I now know well
I used to be free as a soaring eagle
Like a river I followed the boundaries
Yet I was still wild
Now I feel chained
I am a prisoner in my own mind
The one I love will never feel the same
And so I add on the chains
I will forever be an outsider
And so the locks click into place
My own darkness overwhelms me
And so I throw away the keys
Can you find them?
If you did, would you set me free?
Because if you were to look into my eyes
You would find little hope
You would have to search hard for laughter
Even fear is scarce, how could things be worse?
My spirit is broken
And you can only see my weary soul
Save me before the will to live is gone
Because even as you watch
Even as you stare the light is fading
And soon I will have only dead eyes
