i can’t see what i’m writing

came out here to write
something experimental
and am paranoid instead,
of leaves and robots,
the water rushing out
of the river and drowning
me whole, this dog shit
smell of a picnic area.
my pencil breaks. should
use pen instead. almost
too dark to see the water
but for ripples and sparks
left by no wind and the
lights across downtown.
(right by the cop shop.
i’ll be fine. right? right?)
