Forget to Stay Asleep

I catch you with a passing glace

Lift my head and see the chance

To say hello, my friend

And make you real again

But someone always talks to you

You wouldn't introduce me to

I set my head back down

-

And sometimes I meet you in the night

You smile for real

I apologize

Look into your eyes

You say doubtlessly it's all right

So happy I feel

I forget to stay asleep

-

I've tried inviting you to bake

All is well when there is cake

But we've nothing to say

And you go away

You saw the jerk I really was

Decided you had had enough

I know I let you down

-

And sometimes I meet you in the night

You smile for real

I apologize

Look into your eyes

You say doubtlessly it's all right

So happy I feel

I forget to stay asleep

-

I heard my name and turned around

You smiled for real

Waving at me

Is this a dream?

Maybe we can go from here

Back to where we began

Two girls on a sidewalk

Making friends

-

And sometimes I meet you in the night

You smile for real

I apologize

Look into your eyes

You say doubtlessly it's all right

So happy I feel

I forget to stay asleep
