Hallmark Cards

My lit teacher says

That Hallmark Cards have

No value, no meaning

That they all say things like

“thanks for sharing pink lemonade and sugar cookies

with me last week”

Then it’s decorated in sparkly yellow and blue flowers

But, hell that single non-sense Hallmark Card

Means WAY more to me

Then if

You sent me a copy of

Tennyson’s “Charge of the Light Brigade”

I don’t see

What’s wrong with Hallmark Cards?

What’s wrong with their poetry?

They’re not going to win any Pulitzer

That’s a given

But,

All I need is a

Sparkly blue and yellow flowered card with

“Thanks for sharing pink lemonade and sugar cookies

With me last weeks”

Take your epic poems

Take Shelly, Burns, Tennyson, Keats

Hallmark Cards have meaning to me
