I walked to my locker, getting ready to go to chemistry next. My one safe haven. The only place that none of my "groupies" were in. This might sound mean, but they were way too stupid to take chemistry. Just saying.

Now, not that this has anything to do with anything, chemistry was also my only class with Taylor. I don't really know why I had noticed that, I just had. But, yeah. She took chemistry too. She was really smart, like genius level, almost.

Anyways, I got to class just seconds before the bell rang, and took my usual seat by the window.

"Class, get out your homework from last night, and pass it to the front." Mr. Hobbs was a mean, cranky old man most of the time. But sometimes he could be pretty cool... it depends on the day.

I heard a quiet knock on the door. Daniel went to open it.

"Taylor! Why are you late to my class?!" Mr. Hobbs yelled. I saw her flinch, and immediately wanted to hit Mr. Hobbs. Wait, why do I care if she gets yelled at? It must be because I hate injustice. Yeah, that's it, my inner voice told me.

"I-I was helping someone pick up their books th-that they dropped." She said while looking down. Again, I wanted to slap that teacher.

"Next time, maybe you can more about your education than making up these ridiculous stories! I heard about you from last year. You're always talking about Jesus and whatnot. Well, I'll have you know, that isn't going to work in my classroom." Now, I wanted to kill him.

"Sir, with all due respect, my faith in Jesus is not something that I make up. It's real."

"Ha, God, real. You might believe that now, but one day you will outgrow that stupid belief and wake up to the real world where people get hurt!"

"The reason people get hurt is because of the sin in the world, Mr. Hobbs."

"Sin? So, all the rest of us are sinners while your life is just perfect? Ha, sit in your seat, Miss Williams. This is not one of your stupid church services." A look of intense anger flashed across her face. I saw her take a deep breath, as she took a seat. Right beside me. Not that I care.

I heard her start to mumble something, and my first thought is that she was talking to herself. But soon, I realized she wasn't only doing that, she was quoting Scripture.

"'But fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control.' Lord, please help me to control my anger. Mr. Hobbs just doesn't understand because he doesn't know you. Help me to know what to say, and not to strangle him." I laughed out loud at the last part.

"Mr. Spencer, do you have a comment?"

"Huh, uh, no sir. I just find polar covalent bonds very amusing." Thank goodness he wrote the lesson on the board.

"Control your laughter, Mr. Spencer." Then, he went back to teaching his lesson. I took a deep breath of relief.

I turned to take a peek out of the corner of my eye, and saw Taylor looking back. She was looking at me very strangely, as if God himself had just told her something, which with her, was quite possible. After a few seconds, she went back to writing something. Somehow, it was relieving and disapointing at the same time.

I felt a tap on my shoulder. Taylor was sitting there with a note folded in her hand. Gingerly, I took it and started reading.

Austin,

Could you meet with me after class? My locker is number 239, if you decide to.

From, Taylor

Oh, crap. The nervousness was back.
