Chapter 1 – Holidays
Easter and Halloween.
When people pictured those holidays, they imagined a pumpkin with a scary face and a white bunny. And no one would ever imagine the pumpkin and bunny falling in love—no would expect it. And why should they? It was completely unnatural.
Only, the pumpkin wasn’t really a pumpkin at all. It was a young man, who was just as mischievous as a kitten. With his ebony hair, orange eyes, and pale skin, he represented the pumpkin of Halloween—he was the jack-o-lantern. He lived in a large black mansion surrounded by a pumpkin patch, a large, great tree that had Halloween pumpkins growing on us. All of the pumpkins having different types of facial expressions—scary, sad, scared, angry, and so on. He often only wore the colors black, orange and white—yet not all together, usually black with one of the two.
As for the Easter Bunny, well, for one, it was a beautiful young woman with rosy pink hair, creamy white skin, and big eyes the color of honey with long, dark eyelashes, high cheek bones and full pink lips. On the top of her head, she wore a pink bunny ear headband. Pink was a color she almost always wore—when she didn’t, she wore other light colors, like sky blue and yellow. When she wore her pretty, spring dresses, there was almost always a cotton tail attached to the posterior. She wasn’t nearly as mischievous as the pumpkin, but she represented a bunny—though not a white one, but a pink one—and she wasn’t exactly as sweet as candy either.
The Easter Bunny and the jack-o-lantern were enemies. Sworn enemies, until death do they part. They had been competitive towards each other since the day they first met, which ended in smashed eggs and pumpkins, each wanting to prove that the holiday they represented was better.
That was when the game began.
