we were rested on a squeaky bed
the Pocahontas blanket a cozy cover
soft pillow shared by both our heads
arms clung close to one another
and it felt like the young october rain
chills stretching out from arm to leg
as it washed away all complaints
saved you and i from any harm
deep breaths were drops on the roof
tapping gently in the silent room
opening lashes breaking away clouds
the sun shines in the color of your eyes
the final drops sliding down the windows
lingering kisses out of the doorways
don't leave yet, sweet cold october rain
i've only just started to understand
the light of my life is holding my hand
the cold overcast is perfect to us
fall asleep once again, hear the tapping
creating the weather with our napping
