Chapter 10

The Family

Once the ship docked Cindy and Balto made their way off the boat and into the nearest town to find Cindy a family. They started at the front entrance to a grocery store because Balto remembered that most humans take home puppies of they are outside in a box. Balto went around the corner of the store and found a box that had once contained flower seeds.

“Hop into this box” said Balto.

So Cindy hoped into the box and sat there. “How’s this?” She asked.

“That’s perfect. Now just stay right like that.”

Balto and Cindy watched as people came out of the store but no of them even took a look at poor Cindy. They stayed there of six hours watching people go by. “What a waste this turned out to be” Cindy thought. Balto then noticed something was wrong with Cindy.

“What’s wrong?” asked Balto.

“Well it just that I wanted to go home with a family by now.”Said Cindy.

“Don’t worry about it, someone is bound to want you soon.”

“You really think so?” Cindy asked.

“I know so.” Said Balto.

As soon as Balto finished his sentence a little boy came out of the store with his mother. The little boy noticed said and said “mommy look at the little puppy. Can we keep him, can we keep him.”

His mother looked at him and thought to herself “I can’t say no to that face of his.” “Yes honey, you can keep the puppy.”

The little boy picked up Cindy and was about to leave when Cindy started squirming. The boy put her down and Cindy ran back to Balto. The little boy understood, he knew that Cindy wanted Balto to come to. “Mommy” said the little boy.

“What is it baby?”

“Cindy won’t come unless the other doggy comes to”

“Who’s Cindy?” asked the mom.

“That’s the puppy’s name, so can we take the big doggy to?” asked the boy.

“Well I guess we can do that” said the mom

The little boy ran over and he noticed that Balto was wearing a collar. “Mommy this one’s name is Balto”

“That’s nice babe now let’s go before it starts raining”

So Cindy finally got her wish, a family. Cindy and Balto went along with the little boy and his mother. When they arrived the little boy let Cindy and Balto the house and they both ran inside. It was late so the little boy’s mother lit a fire and after that the boy’s father came in and saw Cindy and Balto.

“Well looks like we have two more members to add to the family” he said.

Cindy and Balto knew that this was the start of their new lives with a family.
