Belated Anniversary Poem
I know this is coming late
So forgive the fact that I wasn't expedient
I've spent all this time
Writing verse trying to tell you
How much I love you.
I tried to say I love you like stars
My love for you is more than the fathomless sea
The melodious madrigals of birds
Are nothing
When compared to your love of me
I compared you to the value of silver
I compared you to the value of gold
And all the jewels
In all of the world
But, no matter what I compared you to
No matter what I said
No matter what verse
No matter what form
Allusion or allegory
It couldn't compare
To how much
I love you
So here is my belated anniversary poem
I LOVE YOU
