Mirror, Mirror

Beauty

Show it to me

Mirror, mirror

I want it under my skin

Deep red nails and stained lips

Its not beauty

The jealousy

Colored scarves are swirling

And tear-streaked mascara

Show me beauty

Mirror, mirror

Glinting jewels and beads

In my ears

On my hands

Like wearing a costume

They don’t see the real me

Call me beautiful

But I don’t see it

Running a brush through

And through again

In the mirror,

As if I could brush

The beauty underneath out

Breaking, tearing

As if I could brush the ugly away

Show it to me

Mirror, mirror

Where’s this beauty

I don’t feel

The angel you see in me

She’s not real

Mirror

That girl is broken

Striving to survive

I want to see it

Mirror, mirror

That same beauty

Alive
