The Schoolgirl
She bears her backpack like a mossy boulder,
A millstone weighing down her skinny shoulders.
The bus stop cabin shelters her: a mouse
Curled in her nest, in her domed plastic house.
Her eyelids drooping in her moon-white face,
Under a sky of sour-milk clouds, she waits.
