She climbed out of the car and stared into the distance, then coughed and straightened out her dress. She ran towards the crumbling stone tower, and knocked on the door, expecting to see the bridal party.

She couldn't miss her sister's wedding, and she hoped that she wasn't too late. That they hadn't left without her. May would be gutted - she had always wanted Maria as a bridesmaid, after all. When no-one answered the door, Maria gingerly pushed it open and saw the strangest thing. Outside the castle may be crumbling, but inside? Inside, the Victorian furniture was as if it had just been placed there a year ago.

Nervously, Maria sat down on an armchair and waited to see if May was on her way. Maybe she was early, and the others wouldn't be there for hours? Maybe. Hearing a crash, Maria sprung to her feet and spun around. Seeing a boy of about her age, sixteen, at the door, in Victorian clothes she laughed.

"Bit old for fancy dress, ain't you?" she said, smiling in confusion.
"No Miss. I'm not in 'fancy dress'. These are my normal clothes" Maria sat down, shocked. Was she in some asylum?
"Is something wrong Miss?"
"N-o... Have you seen a woman called May? She is getting married today and I'm her bridesmaid" Maria snapped.
"There are no weddings held here, after all, it isn't a church" Maria stepped backwards.
"There is a wedding being held here this afternoon" she insisted.
"There is no wedding, Miss" Maria flattened her hand over her mouth.
"Is this some kind of joke?" she squealed and the boy shook his head. Maria ran outside; to find... nothing. No car park. No shopping mall in the distance. And no bridal party. It was as if the house, with her and this strange boy in fancy dress, had been transported to some other place. Maria reached into her purse for her mobile, and found nothing but a scrap of paper. In beautiful calligraphic writing were the words 'It is your destiny'. Angry now, she ran back inside and stared at the boy.
"There is nothing out there" she screamed and the boy just stood there motionless.

"Look, have you got a phone?" she asked and the boy looked confused and then nodded.
"Here is the telephone Miss" he said, pointing to a table, entirely covered by a strange contraption. She realised that it must be one of the first telephones. Maria shrugged and looked at the boy severely.
"Taking this historical thing a bit far now, aren't you?"
He frowned. "History Miss?"
"Yes, you know, the past?"

"Miss, that telephone is brand new. Master Brown bought it this morning"

"Look I've had enough of this. Where's the bridal party?"
The boy remained silent. "What is your name?" she said harshly.
"Joe"
"Look Joe, have you got a newspaper, or a mobile or even a radio?"
"Newspaper" he said, passing her a single sheet of paper. She glanced at the date at the top. 17th March 1856.
"Is this a joke?" she demanded and Joe just looked utterly confused.
"Is this a joke?" she repeated, starting to feel that it had gone too far. And then, staring out of the window at a horse, tied to a post she gulped. It couldn't be fake. You couldn't move entire buildings and car parks in five minutes. She was in the past! Screaming, she hit the wall. Suddenly her mind cleared. She was probably just hallucinating. It couldn't be more than a hallucination. Even so.... What could she do if this really was happening?

A.N R+R, sorry about the paragraphing structure it kind of failed...
