Every Year Older

For a child,

The sands of time

Slowly trickle past,

Turning into years.

For a teenager,

The sands of time

Stream a little faster

As they turn into years.

For an adult,

The sands of time

Are draining fast

Into the past

As years.

Every year older,

The sands start to flow

Faster than the last

Until it is faster

Than lava,

But for the old,

Time is faster

Than them

And they are lava,

Moving along

Creeping across

The land of the living

Until they are called away.

Every year older,

The sands of time

Remain forever moving

Until the unforeseen end.
