INT. EMPTY - WHITE - OPENING

Nothing.

(V.O)
Begin game.

BILLY (V.O)
Ok.

EXT. SIMPLE ROAD - DAY

BILLY looks around. He stands near the end of a road. A small brick building lies in the distance in front, on all sides a forest. A small stream flows out of the building and down a gully.

(V.O)
You stand near the end of a road.
A small brick building lies in the distance in front, on all sides a forest.

BILLY
Well, fuck me.

Billy walks up the slight incline of the road, moving towards the brick building ahead.

(V.O)
You move towards the brick building ahead.

Billy stands looking at the building - there doesn't appear to be a way in... certainly no door in the wall.

Suddenly, POP!

JAMES appears behind him. Billy turns.

JAMES
Billy! How you going?

BILLY
Alright. Did you get coffee?

JAMES
No, we're out.

BILLY
Crap.

James steps forward to stand next to Billy, looking at the building in front of them.

JAMES
You tried getting in?

Beat.

BILLY (sarcastic)
No, I'm just standing here.

JAMES
Well that's probably a problem.

They pause, and James clears his throat enthusiastically.

JAMES (CONT'D)
Enter building.

(V.O)
No entrance is available from this approach.

Beat.

JAMES
Yeah, screw you too.

BILLY
Haven't you done this before?

JAMES
A while back.

Billy steps forward to look at the wall.

JAMES (CONT'D)
Examine the wall.

BILLY
It's just brick.

(V.O)
The wall is made of red brick,
but otherwise unremarkable.

Pause.

JAMES
That's really going to piss us off. Let's try going around.
Who needs a damn well-house anyway.

Billy and James set off, moving around the North side of the building.

EXT. FOREST - CONTINUOUS

They quickly cross the stream and head down the hill into the forest. Coming to a stop at the bottom, they regard their surroundings.

On all sides is deep forest. Though apparently light, it extends in all directions. Behind is the hill, on the top of which lies the well-house. Ahead, Billy and James can glimpse rocks, perhaps a cliff-face.

Beat.

BILLY
My God, this is annoying. Let's head for the rocks.

JAMES
Yeah, but which way is that? North?

BILLY
Ah... maybe? I'm not great with directions. Do we have a compass?

JAMES
No, we don't have a compass.

(V.O)
No, you have no compass.

Beat.

JAMES
We went around the North side of the building before we started coming down here. Either we're facing East or West.

BILLY
Let's go West.

The duo begin to trod back up the hill.

(V.O)
You begin to return up the hill.

BILLY
Shit! Turn around. Go East.

EXT. CREEK BED - CONTINUOUS

Billy and James go East, walking through the forest. It disappears almost instantly behind them, and they find themselves at a dry creek bed with a sheer cliff ahead.
Nearby is a large iron grate, set into stone on the ground.

BILLY
My God! Does it never shut up?

JAMES
Not really, no.

Beat.

BILLY
How far have we come?

JAMES
Dunno. Look behind.

BILLY
I'm seeing mostly forest.

Billy points to a hill in the distance with a red brick building, outlined clearly in the sun.

BILLY (CONT'D)
It's the well-house.

JAMES
Yeah.

Beat.

James and Billy look at each other, but say nothing.

JAMES
Was there a grate or something?

BILLY
Ah... maybe.

They both look around.

BILLY (CONT'D)
Yeah, look there. It's pretty big.

They walk over to the large iron grate.

JAMES
We should probably examine it.

Billy and James lean in to look at the thing. It's a large grate, apparently made of iron. Beneath it, rough hewn stone steps descend into the darkness.

BILLY
Looks like it's made of iron.

(V.O)

JAMES
(grunts, annoyed)
Huh.

The pair pause, looking down at the grate.

BILLY
We should open it.

James nods in agreement.

They bend down, both gripping the bars.

JAMES
One, two... three.

They pull, but it doesn't move.

BILLY
Wait a second. It's locked!

(V.O)
It's locked.

JAMES
Damn it!

Beat.

JAMES (CONT'D)
Key?

BILLY
We have no key.

(V.O)
You have no key.

BILLY
Well this is a colossal waste of time.

JAMES
Screw it. How about a little Call of Duty?

FADE OUT.
