your inner child came into the store today and bought a Stevie Wonder flag.

He was,

small, and just barely blond. (tell me
did you believe me when I told you that
youth, was natural?) did it make you
dream?

back when your smile wasn't old,
and covered in cobwebs. and you didn't
trick beautiful girls into loving you.

when you were a
virgin.
all curled up. unwound, unwounded.

(please don't forget)
(don't forget)
us.
