The Basement

In a small town anything and everything can happen. I know that because of what happened one winter in my small and quiet little town. I was Eight years old. That winter was a rough one too. Every day it snowed hard! All the kids had to walk to school too. Now it was on a Wednesday when the biggest storm we had ever see hit! It was the worst because the whole town had to go to the church because the church was the only place that had heat and the light's stayed on. The town mayor said, "In all the years I've been town mayor I have never seen such a storm like this! "He went on to say it looked like no one would be going home, well not till morning. Mother and the other woman had just finished cleaning up lunch when the light's started to flicker on and off! The men went to see what the problem was. They told us that the light just had a short in it.

I know I shouldn't have went snooping, but I wanted to know what was going when no one was looking I sneaked down to the church basement to see what was everyone was so scared to get of subject but I always bragged I wasn't afraid of nothing!So as I started off I felt a cold wind run down my spine! I told my self the basement had a draft that was all. I made my way down to the door and I felt a little scared!I opened the door and slowly walked in.I found a flashlight and looked around.I thought it looked like every other basement,but there was something strange about it too. So I slowly took a small step and walked over to what looked like an old door.I thought what is behind this door and then I heard what sounded like some kind of animal.

I slowly opened the door and walked in. As I walked in a small cat jumped on me!I screamed so loud people in the next town could hear me!I picked the cat up and it was just a little kitten!I told the cat "Your the one who scared the men! "Then I heard a loud knock! I told the cat,which I called Princess,to I walked over to see what the noise was!I turn my flashlight back on and looked around. I didn't see nothing,but when I turned to go back out,I saw something out of the corner of my eye.I saw small shadow! Now being only eight years old I was scared to death! I slowly walked over to where the shadow was. I found nothing so I told my self it was all in my head that’s all it was! I walked back over to princess. I told princess "She going back with me to where everyone was. So I went back up the stairs, picked princess up, and closed the basement door. No one every found out about my little adventure I had. Me and Princess now where scared to death of basements! That’s was my first adventure but not my last!
