Liz had calmed down after an hour or two. She started getting ready for the party that night. Abby stayed and helped her. After Abby left, she sat sown on the couch and thought things through.
What were the chances that this was Janie? And it was only one murder, not a series of them. If I was a series, she’d have to wait a few days to find out. What where the chances though? When they released her they said that her mental state was stable. But it had been five years since then. She could have become unstable over the time she wasn’t watched.
Liz knew she was over thinking everything; she took a deep breath and relaxed. She looked up at the clock; it was time for her to leave. Liz went to her car, as she drove she turned on the radio, news report. As the voice spoke Liz got scared again. Another body had been found, it had only been a few hours! So far the two victims had no relation to each other. And this other victim had had their throat cut also. Police we’re still investigating and weren’t sharing much information. However they did say that they we’re getting assistance from a person experienced in this field.
Liz couldn’t help but wonder who. But she knew no matter who it was, if the murderer was Janie, they’d never get her unless she wanted to be caught.
As Liz pulled up to the hotel where the party was being held she saw Seidra just walking up the steps. Liz got out of her car and walked quickly to catch up to her.
“Seidra!”
Seidra turned around and saw her coming towards her.
“Hi Liz.”
“I didn’t think I’d see you here this soon.”
“Well I am only here for a while so I figured I might as well get here as soon as possible.”
“Oh, well let’s get inside.”
“Right.”
Liz and Seidra walked up the steps Liz felt someone walk past her and as they did she could have sworn she heard someone say her name. Liz looked around, no one.
“What is it?” Seidra asked looking at her confused.
“Nothing, I just thought I heard someone call me.”
“No, no one did.”
Liz shrugged her shoulders and continued inside. After a while of talking to people about their new project they got some down time.
“I’m going to find Jazz; I haven’t gotten the chance to talk to her yet.”
“Alright, come find me before you leave okay? I’ll probably have a few questions by the end of the night.”
Seidra laughed a little, but it wasn’t a normal laugh, it was more of a ‘Yeah you will have questions but not about what you expect.’ It was kind of creepy.
“Alright, I’ll find you.” And with that she left.
Liz walked around some talking to more people. She was asked to dance a few times but declined with the reason she couldn’t dance, and had no sense of balance. Liz took a sip from her wine glass; she had her back turned to the crowd.
“Well if it isn’t Liz Tomas, never thought I’d see you again this soon.” A creepily familiar voice said from behind her. She turned slowly, and when her eyes met the source of the voice she nearly dropped her glass.
“Oh my god.” was all she could manage to say.
“Don’t tell me you forget my name Liz, how could you?”
“J-Janie…”
“There you go Liz, I knew you couldn’t forget me of all people.” She smiled her creepy smile.
“What are you doing here?”
“I’m here keeping an eye on things Liz,” she walked closer to her “I’m here with the police.”
“Why?”
“I’m working with them; I’m helping them with this new case. I know this will be turning into a case of a serial killer.”
“How? Is it you again?”
Janie locked eyes with her and starred coldly for a few seconds. She smirked, Liz looked into her eyes, Janie was taunting her.
“Now why would you say something like that? I’m not the person I was eleven years ago you know. I’ve changed.”
“I don’t see how, you’re still creepy.”
“That wasn’t nice Liz; you used to be so kind to me.”
“That was before you tried to kill me.”
“Yes well I suppose that would change someone’s opinion on a person.”
“Yeah it would.”
“However I am perfectly fine now Liz, I don’t expect you to believe me or be my friend again, fact is I would never be able to be your friend again, to awkward.”
“To awkward? How would it be awkward for you?”
“Easily, I mean I did swear to kill you after all, with that don’t you think it would be awkward?”
“I suppose so.” Liz’s tone was bland; she just starred at Janie as she smiled at her.
Janie looked at her watch, “Oh, its 11 already, now where is she?”
“Where’s who?”
“There she is.” Janie pointed to the person coming towards them.
“Seidra?!” Liz asked shocked.
“Hi Liz, I see you’ve meet Miss Aria Fyuse.”
“Aria Fyuse? This isn’t –.”
“Yes Seidra we’ve met, as you said she is a lovely person.”
“Good, now I’ve had enough of all these snobs and their useless talk, so if you’re ready to go?”
“Seidra you’re driving her home?”
“What? No Liz she’s living with me for a while. She’s here from Toronto, so she’s staying with me until her work here is done.”
“Seidra are you crazy?! Do you not realize who-.”
“Seidra, come on we should get going, you look tired anyway.”
“Right, I have to go I’ll see you on Monday Liz. Bye.”
Before Liz could say anything else they both disappeared into the crowd. She just stood there stunned and scared. Seidra was going to die. She knew it. Seidra wasn’t going to be at work on Monday, instead the police would find her body in her house, throat slit with blood soaking her clothes and a in a pool on the floor.
Liz could see it in her mind, it made her body numb. Janie was back, claiming that she had changed, but she knew better. She remembered they way she had looked at her as she was pulled out of her room after Janie had stabbed her, the look on her face as she swore she’d kill her. And they way she had taunted her just now, mocking her subtly.
Liz knew she had to do something; she ran outside and got into her car. She started driving in the direction of Seidra’s house. She had to tell her who “Aria Fyuse” really was.
