Stickers

I swear that when I’m a high-school teacher

If I ever do get there

I’ll put stickers on my students papers

Even if it is a C

I’ll give them a sticker

You might say I’m rewarding mediocrity

Putting the super smart kids

And the average kids

On the same par

Go ahead and tell me

That life isn’t fair

It’s the super smarts who deserve the stickers

I’ll counter your argument

When I say

They’re the ones who already got the A

Let the kid who got an average grade

Know that she’s important too

Give them a little sticker

A star or a rainbow

Maybe scratch n sniff

Or glitter

It’s just a sparkle of happiness

Instead of a sigh

I could have done so much better

So

I plan to give out stickers

Because average people

A people too
