looked out my window this morning

saw the world was on fire

tree with bright orange leaves waving

waving in the wind

rippling like a flame

burning bright and fast

burning strong and proud

before winter descends

and i look out my window

to see despair

in twisted trunks

and leafless lifeless limbs

i'd much rather be astonished

that the world could burn

so beautifully.
