Kind of in between poetry and a prose, structure like poetry, the story is more common in prose
The mischievous goblin hopped down to a rock
He watched as the pigeons strayed from his flock
The goblin jumped hoping to get his way
But ended in despair as the pigeon flew away
“What will I eat now?” The goblin sighed
He gave up and turned to his side
“What a minute! I know what to do!” The goblin exclaimed, “I’ll just steal the unicorn’s grains!”
The mischievous goblin hid behind the tree, “The unicorn won’t suspect anything, especially not me!”
The gleeful unicorn ran across the field
Not knowing the goblin had something to steal
The goblin crept closer and closer to the food
And there, the unicorn stood
The goblin quickly turned to run away
“Wait” the unicorn said, “You can stay”
“Name your price” The goblin said, “All I want is a piece of bread”
The unicorn replied, “If you are hungry my friend, then you may take a piece of my bread”
The goblin snatched the bread and went on his way
Never did he give thanks and his pay
The goblin sat bored atop his trunk, “What is this? I cannot play with this junk”
The goblin threw the toy away and hopped to the ground, “I know what to do! I’ll steal the fairies toys, and I won’t make a sound”
The mischievous goblin ran across the woods
Where the joyful tree fairies flew
There they played and played
And he watched with jealous rage
“If they have fun so should I, so I’ll steal all their toys and make them cry!”
He crept closer and closer to the toys
Determined to take away their joy
“What are you doing?” the tree fairy asked
The goblin looked up, disrupted from his task
“What’s it to you?” the goblin replied, “I just wanted to be outside”
“Do you want to play with us?” The fairy offered
The goblin replied, “No! Don’t be abusrd”
“Well then here, take these toys with you on your way, and with them you can play”
The goblin snatched the toy away from her hands
And walked away without a single thanks
He played and played all day
For the mischievous goblin always got his way
“I’m so thirsty” The goblin said, “How dry was that bread!”
The goblin scratched his dry throat
And looked for water in the forest of oaks
“I know what to do!” the goblin exclaimed, “I’ll just water from the Nereid, and I won’t get the blame”
The mischievous goblin decided upon this plan
And then he ran
He ran to the edge of the bay
Where the Nereid frolicked in the waves
He crept closer and closer to the fresh water
But so parched his vision started to blur
The Nereid turned to the goblins
And saw he was weak and felt compassion towards him
The Nereid took the water and put it in a cup
And walked up to the goblin, “Here, drink so you may stand up”
The goblin snatched the cup and gulped it down
He then threw it ungracefully to the ground
He turned and headed back
Once again, never giving thanks
The mischievous goblin sat on the trunk, enjoying his day
For the mischievous goblin always got his way
He heard a rustling sound
And soon all the creatures came out
The unicorn, the tree fairy, and the Nereid all angrily stared
They exclaimed, “What you did to us was unfair!”
The goblin shrugged and looked to the side, “I don’t care, it is not a problem of mine” he replied
The creatures shook their heads in disappointment, “We give you toys, water, and food, yet you show no gratitude, therefore this is what we’ll do, we will no longer be friends with you”
The mischievous goblin looked over bored and waved it off, “I don’t need a friend, not if I need water, toys, or bread”
The creatures left, and for days left him alone
And soon lonely he had grown
But he could never come to apologize
For his pride was too high
As days went by, he longer wanted to play
And watched the others have fun in dismay
The mischievous goblin walked to the others as each went on
Determined to apologize for what he had done
“I’m sorry for all I’ve done wrong,” the goblin said, “All of you were right all along”
The creatures shared a glance and smiled, they replied, “We forgive you our friend, for you are worth our while”
The mischievous goblin jumped up with glee
It was then when the goblin was set free
No longer mischievous, he turned into a spirited young child
Who only knew how to smile
“I promise never to do wrong again” said the boy, “I’ll start by returning your toys”
The boy handed the toys back to the fairy
The fairy happily returned the toys, “With them, together we’ll play everyday!” The fairy said joyous and merry
The boy walked to the unicorn, “I cannot repay my debt, but I give you my greatest thanks for that bread”
The unicorn replied, “Your thanks is all I need, for your friendship is all that matters to me”
He walked to the Nereid, “Thank you for the water that quenched my thirst, I’m sorry I could not be kinder at first”
All the creatures smiled with joy
For he had become such a beautiful boy
“I’m sorry I showed no gratitude, but from now on, I’ll be grateful and true, and it’s thanks to all of you”
Although the boy always didn’t get his way
He would always have friends with which he could play
