A place too familiar; and it's all too much to see

How long it has been

How little it has changed me.

A younger self carried within

Like some grotesque remnant of a long-lost twin

No matter what parental title

I'm entitled to claim

Whatever respectable adornments

I might display

Heart and head still rendered useless

By relentlessly idiotic introspection

And the appalling, frightful thought

Of what I might actually accomplish

Having freed these atrophied hands

From their self-imposed bindings.
