A Prince's Fairy Tale
This is just a short little story. It's based off of one of those cute, happily-ever-after-stories, but the main characters are male.
This is Yaoi, manXman love, don't like, don't read.
Rated M for a reason: sexual content
Once upon a time, a fair princess was born. Though the kingdom already had an heir, the girl's elder brother, the people welcomed her into the world with loving arms. Several years passed and the girl was betrothed to a young noble. Her marriage would mark an alliance between her kingdom and his.
But the child grew unexpectedly ill. The king and queen feared for there daughter, but they also worried the neighboring kingdom would break the engagement if they heard of the princess's illness.
Fortunately, the princess had a twin brother as fair and beautiful as she. They grew the prince's silky blond hair long to resemble his sisters. When the occasion arose, the king and queen would present their second-born son as their daughter.

The sound of instruments and chatting filled the room. Food was decorated with gold and flowers. Karu eyed some of the foreign dishes, salivating at the smell.
"Aiko, come this way."
Karu's father came from behind him. Taking his son's small hand into his, he led the disguised boy through the crowded room. The Prince's long hair swung obnoxiously in front of his face and the dress hung unfamiliarly around his legs making it hard to walk. He was already ten and he was still being dressed-up like a girl. His elder brother never had to do this
"Father." Karu looked up at the man. "Where are we going?"
"We are going to see your fiancé, Lord Makoto"
Dread shot through Karu. Why did he have to meet him? Makoto was his sister's fiancé, not his. Karu wished that Aiko would get better so didn't have to pretend to be her anymore.
A man stepped in the path and the king and prince. They greeted each other formally.
Karu took advantage of the interruption; skillfully he slipped his hand away from his father's and dashed between bodies.
"Aiko!"
His father's voice came after him, but was soon lost in the maze of people. Karu weaved his way around the room till he slipped away from the crowd. Seeing an open door, he darted towards the balcony. But as soon as he made it outside, his foot stepped on the alien hem of his dress, ripping it, and falling to the stone floor.
Karu sat pathetically on one of the benches, nursing his wounds. He'd scrapped up his palms and one of his knees. Plus the dress was ruined; a section of the hem had torn loose and a small hole, surrounded by dirt, had formed where his knee had hit stone.
He whimpered silently and clutching his knee while trying to hold back tears. Several minutes passed and the pain began to dull. Outdoor air chilled his skin.
The sound of footsteps came to Karu's ears and he looked up, worried that it was his father. But it was another boy.
He must have been a couple years older than Karu. He was dressed elegantly, with his black hair combed back. The boy's face was well bred and as he walked closer, Karu could see that the seemingly black eyes were a rich, dark brown.
"Are you alright?" The boy looked kindly down at him. "Did you fall?"
Karu nodded, mesmerized by the deepness of his eyes. He must have been foreign, for no one he knew had such features. Before he knew it the boy had bent down to look at Karu's knee. Pulling out a handkerchief, the black haired boy began to clean away the blood and dirt from the wound.
"Ah!" Karu jerked his knee away from the stinging.
"It's okay, it'll be over soon."
The boy continued to clean the wound. When he was done he sat next to Karu. "When you go back inside, you should have someone treat it properly."
Karu nodded again.
"Did you hurt anywhere else?"
Karu held up his hands and mumbled. "Just scratched a little."
The boy reached for Karu's hand.
"You shouldn't let your hands get so cold."
He held Karu's hands in his own, warming them up.
Karu blushed. No one outside of his family had ever touched him so informally. But the boy's hands were warm, gentle and pleasant. Karu was too young an innocent to realize what feelings had awakened in his chest.
"What's your name?" Asked the boy.
"K – A-Aiko." Karu had almost given his real name. He wished that he could.
The boy smiled at him.
"You're very pretty, Aiko."
"Makoto!" A man's voice traveled from the balcony door and the boy stood up.
"I should go," he said, "they're looking for me and probably you as well.
"You're Lord Makoto?" Karu asked.
Makoto bent down to kiss Karu's hand then released it. Bowing to Karu he said his goodbye and headed back into the room.
Karu held the hand that had been kissed, still warm from Makoto's touch.
Though he hadn't known it at the time, Karu's first love was his sister's fiancé.

The year's passed and the prince dreamed of the boy he'd met so long ago. He'd come to realize what his feelings for Makoto were, but the knowledge pained his heart. Makoto would marry the princess and leave him behind.
The twins had reached their sixteenth year and the people were anticipating a wedding between the two kingdoms. But the princess was still weak. She was barely able to leave her room.
The king and queen were desperate.
They knew of a witch that lived within the kingdom. Though she was unable to cure the princess's sickness, she offered to assist in another way: if the king and queen sent their son to her, she promised to change him into a girl.
The king and queen were reluctant but the prince agreed. If he became a woman, he could marry Makoto himself.
Accompanied by two guards, the prince traveled to the witch's tower. But the witch held a secret hatred toward the kingdom. She wished to seek revenge upon the king and queen after the death of her son who had been executed for attempting to assassinate the king. The princess's illness was due to a curse from her lips.
Upon the prince's arrival, the witch used her powers to kill the guards and she locked the prince in the highest room of the tower with a gruesome, clawed creature guarding him.
The witch had taken her revenge by stealing away two of the kingdoms beloved royal children.
Becoming aware of the witch's treachery, the king sent soldiers to rescue his son, but nothing availed. No man could make it passed the witch's beast.
The witch laughed at the kingdom's futile efforts. She told the prince that magic governed the beast and only the prince's true love could defeat the creature. Both the witch and the prince knew it to be hopeless. The man the prince loved was betrothed to the princess and between the two, Makoto was sure to pick the princess over the prince.
The king had stopped sending his soldiers to their death.
Weeks passed with no hope of escaping. The time lengthened into month. Soon the prince lost track of how long he'd been imprisoned.
But one day from his window, the prince could see a single rider approaching the tower. As the figure got closer, the prince could see that it was Makoto.
The prince yelled from the window. He didn't want to chance Makoto's death and he called for him to turn back. But Makoto kept his pursuit.
The prince watched powerlessly as the creature charged towards Makoto. Swinging its hairy limps, it knocked Makoto from his steed. Tumbling to the ground, he twisted his body to stand up and pulled out his sword. He charged at the creature, dodging blows and striking where he could.
The prince could hear screams from the witch. The creature was a manifestation of her hatred and her body was connected to it. Every wound the beast took, she took as well.
Makoto was knocked to the side by one of the beast's blows, but he fought on. Brandishing his sword, he moved his body around the large mass of the creature. Finding an opening, Makoto slid the steel between the beast's ribs.
The creature melted away and the witch lay dead beside the tower.

"Karu… Karu!"
He could hear Makoto calling for him. Footsteps echoed through the stairwell as Makoto ran to the top of the tower.
The door between them was locked.
Several large bangs sounded through the room before Makoto busted through the old wood.
Karu stood transfixed. He had stopped waiting after being alone for so long. He'd never believed Makoto would come for him. Now Makoto was standing before him, having saved him, and Makoto was looking at him as a boy.
Makoto had grown from being a child, he was a man: tall and muscular. But he still had the same eyes that looked deep into Karu.
"Karu!" Makoto rushed to him grabbing his shoulders. "Are you alright?"
"M-Makoto." Karu spoke in a daze, of all the things he wanted to say, only one thing slipped out. "You said my name."
"Of course I said your name." Makoto hugged him tightly.
Karu spoke into Makoto's shoulder. "But you – my – my sister. Why did you come?"
"I went to see you, but your parents wouldn't let me. They told me you were sick and I waited. Finally your parents explained to me that the Princess Aiko I'd come searching for was ill, and you had been taking her place when we meet. I wanted to see you but they told you'd been taken away."
"But – why did you risk your life and come for me when you have my sister? The witch's curse is broken and my sister should be well again. Shouldn't you go to her?"
Makoto loosened his hold to look at Karu. He used one of his gentle hands to lift Karu's face up. He spoke looking him in the eye. "No matter what disguise you were in when we met, I feel in love with you."
"Makoto, I --!"
Karu tried to speak but Makoto's lips stopped his voice. Makoto pulled Karu tightly against his muscular body while nursing his trembling lips. Makoto bite softly on Karu's lower lip before pulling away.
Karu wrapped his arms around Makoto's neck. "I love you."
Makoto responded with another kiss but this time his tongue invaded Karu's mouth. Karu made a noise of surprise, but didn't pull away. Instead he returned the kiss by mimicking the movements. Karu's tongue explored the textures and warmth of Makoto's mouth. Ever since Karu'd realized his love, he'd never thought he could enjoy the sweet taste of it.
The pair soon found themselves naked, resting on the cot that had served as Karu's bed.
Karu looked at the man above him as he panted in pleasure and pain.
He urged Makoto to hurry, gasping, "Makoto. Please."
Karu wrapped his arms around Makoto's neck and pulled him closer. Makoto's fingers were wiggling inside of him, stretching his body. They kissed again as Makoto removed his fingers.
"Hurry." Karu moaned into Makoto's lips. He didn't like the emptiness of Makoto's sudden absence from his body.
"Karu." Makoto groaned as he pushed himself into Karu. Karu cried out and clung tighter.
Makoto began to shift his hips, pumping himself into the boy.
Moans, pants and heat filled the room as they tangled together. Before long, they released their passion and collapsed on the bed.
Makoto held Karu close for a long time, stroking his back, till they both fell asleep.

The prince and his lover returned to the kingdom with an overjoyed reception. The king and queen were so grateful towards Makoto that they offered him anything he wished. He wished for Karu.
The princess recovered well and she soon married one of the guards that had helped to take care of her over the years.
An agreement was made between the two kingdoms and Karu and Makoto were married as well, vowing their eternal love for each other.
And they lived happily ever after.
Hee hee. I enjoyed putting that last line in.
