Why are we needy?

Forever wanting something more, or something less.

And always, always taking.

Reaching up,

Reaching out,

Reaching far,

Stretching as far as we can to get it.

We reach it, we get it,

And it seems to open up the doors.

Doors to a whole new world,

A new world to eat up

Until there’s nothing left.

It makes me laugh,

It makes me cry,

But I can’t do much,

So I watch as I see everyone around me

Reaching up,

Reaching out,

Reaching far,

Stretching as far as they can to get it.
