Hello again. This is my first ever play. It is based off of a conversation between me and a friend that really got me thinking. I tried to get a decent view of both sides of the argument to allow you, the reader, to draw your own conclusion based off of well-informed, unbiased information. Enjoy.

Person 1: May I confide in you my friend?

Person 2: Of course. What is it that's on your mind?

Person 1: I do not expect to live much past the age of 18 or so, because I know I wouldn't make it in this world.

Person 2: I'd help you.

Person 1: Why bother with continuing anything past high school? Not intending to offend, but I don't really need help. If I were to grow up and get a job, it would have been a Therapist, because I know what people are like and how they respond to certain things, but I already know I wouldn't make it in this world.

Person 2: I'm going to be a Therapist for that very same reason, but the world could really use more people like us who understand what people are feeling and going through.

Person 1: Yes, I know what you're saying, but, the other thing is, people are making this world worse with every passing moment, and even though there are people like us trying to help them, people are just too ignorant to see past their noses and change. People are now starting to realize that this world makes no sense, and we just come in, live for a few decades, and die.

Person 2: But we can't give up that easily. If everyone just gave up, then the world would be completely hopeless. We have to work and try to force people to change, or else everyone is damned to as miserable an existence as we have.

Person 1: Indeed, but so many other people have tried, and failed. I do believe that every one person counts no matter how small and helpless they are.

Person 2: Exactly, so if everyone counts, would you really worsen the odds by taking yourself out of the picture? The world needs you. The world needs us. It's up to us to change the world. If not us, then who? We can't rely on other people to do all of the work, or, knowing how untrustworthy people are, nothing would ever get done.

Person 1:There are certain things that I have come to understand though. Even if we try, the other people that aren't helping us will just be destroying what we have been working so hard to rebuild.

Person 2: So we have to try all the harder to even the odds. If we can't make the world better, we can at least stop it from getting worse.

Person 1: Yes, I suppose so. But in my personal opinion, I think to myself that there will never be any peace in my life time, or any that I can see, because due to my past experiences, I will only have failures in my life.

Person 2: That may be, but maybe you can work so that the next generation won't have to suffer through what you had to.

Person 1: That's my one problem, I don't care much for many of the people on this world anymore. They are just destroying the only place where we can live happily, and I just don't trust anyone anymore, except for the few like you who actually believe in this, and my only friends.

Person 2: Good, because I'd call you a fool if you trusted everyone. But would you really wish your pain on anyone else? We have been chosen to live these lives of pain and suffering because we can handle it, we're strong enough to bear the burden. But the others, they'd crumble under the pressure. They don't understand because they haven't seen the things we have, they haven't felt the things we've felt. It's up to us to ensure that the others don't have to suffer the way we have. We are responsible for their lives by making sure that we live ours to the fullest, protecting the human race until they come to their senses and shape up.

Person 1: I do feel the same way, its just that, I can't explain how I feel about this world now-a-days.

Person 2: I do understand, really I do. I just feel that, in a way, it's my responsibility as one of us to help you through this and keep us moving towards our common goal.

Person 1: Yes, I think I see what you mean. However, what if this world isn't ready for peace? What if they need to experience more before they are ready to accept that there's no other alternative?

Person 2: I wish I had an answer for that. I suppose all we can do is keep trying, and hope that it doesn't take much more for them to see what fools they're making of themselves. I do know one thing though. We can't give up. No matter what happens, we can never lose hope. If not us, then who?

There you have it. I would really appreciate it if you were to review and tell me if this play influenced you in any way, perhaps changing your ideas about life or helping you to see other people differently. So long for now.
