Author's Notes~
Yet another one-shot typed up for an assignment some time ago...So forgive me for any errors, though I went over it and fixed some things up that I could find. This was once exactly twenty sentences, but I expanded it so it made more sense~
Relax and enjoy~ :)
The Pirate Girl
In the kitchen of the grand house, the young girl kept her head low while her father admonishes her in a scolding voice for her girl by the name of Naomi had breached her parent’s room by taking the key to unlock the doors and played in their closets and on their bed. For the girl was a dreamer, always wanting to explore and act like she was among the clouds or sailing the seas. Her father can never realize this and thus scolded her on how she can’t act like a brigand.
Naomi had nodded solemnly and with circumspect, left the room with extra caution in fear of being yelled at some more with her father's watchful eye on her. When back in her room, Naomi calmed herself down. Her eyes were stained with tears at her father's yelling. All she wanted was to have fun and release the imagination that built up inside of her.
The girl turned to her bookshelf and saw a book sticking out slightly. She blinked, then pulled it out and looked through it. It was a story about pirates in the days they would commandeer ships; seizing them from sailors who naively dared to sail.
Naomi was a small girl and was cumbersome with the large book, for it was difficult for her to handle things that sometimes seemed larger than her. She fiddled with it in her hands and finally laid it out on the ground. With the book on the floor, Naomi read about how the sailors would have a fearsome war in the waves of the sea with these pirates in battles that would last for what seemed like ages until a deadlock came by; they would be at a standstill for sometimes weeks until a winner came about.
Naomi flipped the page and coming out in blazing colors from the book was the debris of the battle with the scattered fragments about the still waters and the wreckage slowly sinking to the depths of the darkening sea. All treasure and goodies like the rum were all taken by the pirates. And perhaps a wench or two.
The girl read on, reading how the pirates would diffuse their treasure to help protect it from the sailors whom they stole it from. It wasn't always X marks the spot. She read about how they would isolate rule breakers on and island. Walk the plank they would! And only a loaf of bread to last them.
Naomi rose to her knees, tilting her head and looking down at the book in wonder at how the pirates never seemed to run in any dilemma to solve; they just fought, stole and buried. But they did even more than that. They roamed and they roamed free.
Reading along further into the book, Naomi read with fascination at how the sailors and officers went on a hunt to efface the world of pirates and eliminate their ‘race’. In the girl's mind, it was like a whole fantasy war in the sun lit clouds.
Entranced by the book, Naomi went on reading until she got thirsty, however, when reaching for her water she accidentally knocked it over and it thus accidentally muddling the book she was reading by damping its pages. Naomi gasped in panic as the glass of water ruined her book; nonetheless though she pushed the cup aside and continued to read, opinionated against her parents’ belief of tossing destroyed things and tried to continue the reading.
In fear of damaging the book further, Naomi decided to leave it along and pushed it aside, but the perennial time in her bedroom was getting to her and after the long time she went to her door. When Naomi went to open her bedroom door, she discovered it to not open due to her father predisposing and locking her door shut so she couldn’t get out; she was after all grounded.
After many attempts to break the door open, Naomi relinquished her tries of opening it, giving up on the door and climbing up on her bed to sit.
Perhaps after a moment or maybe two, Naomi went to the book again, flipping the delicate page with care to see pictures of salvage as the sailors tried to save all they could from the flames and destruction of battles. She gazed through, the book was full of all sorts of images so lively, so colorful and full of adventure!
Naomi was about to continue when a sudden spasmodic of the violent, sudden sound thunder and lighting stuck, causing the girl to jump and glance towards her window where rain pounded against the glass.
Naomi sighed, sitting by the window on her bed and watched the raging storm outside, thinking about the pirates and the seemingly spurious adventures they must have…but were they really not valid?
The girl laid back in her bed with a curious smile on her face as lighting lit up her room and then soon closed her eyes, dreaming about being an unbridled pirate who can’t be restraint from exploring the vast sees that glitter with the light of the sun by dawn and moon by dusk.
