The blue pens are very dangerous. They're the only ones that can do actual damage to a person, that can kill them. The black ones only remove people, make them leave. They can teleport you, too. I haven't tested yet to see if you can kill yourself with the blue ones. I tried giving them to other people to use, but nobody can activate the special abilities. And for some reason, the black ones don't send me home. Maybe its just too far away.

I've been doing a lot more tests on them. Don't worry, I haven't killed anybody. Well, only a couple of people, and they both failed their exams so they don't count. I sit in the Student's Union all day and listen in on people's conversations so see who's failing. I hate people who fail exams. Especially people who get to do a whole extra year of University as a reward for failing their exams, when I got nothing but immediate banishment for working hard and getting a good grade first time. They kind of owe me a life, in a way. And I think of it as euthanasia – who wants to live knowing they're the kind of subhuman... thing that fails exams?

I'm also working on building a pen launcher.

“How did the appointment go? You look like you've seen a ghost.”

“I... kind of did. Game Over came to the meeting. They actually sent someone down. In person!”

“Are we in trouble?”

She shook her head, “No, no, it went well, they're very impressed by the progress we're making, I just... don't like working with those guys. They scare the crap out of me... the things they're authorised to do... the things they'll do to us if we get this wrong...”

“And the death?”

“Entirely justified.” she said, “I'm afraid we've been left with a lot of paperwork, though.”

“What are our orders now?”

“We have to do further tests. We still don't know exactly what powers the subject has manifested, what exactly triggers each one. And then there's the next stage – conditioning. We need to be absolutely sure they will obey our every order without question. And we actually have to train them to use their powers in a controlled manner. Along with the regular agent training.”

“Well, we're not going to have trouble with that. How many new recruits have we trained in the course of this operation?”

“Six hundred administrative assistants.” said LeGrange, “I don't have the first clue how to train a highly sensitive and gifted psychic.”

“That is where your intimate knowledge of the test subject comes into play. I trust you have been doing your job and observing her closely, yes? You are in the best position to understand her personality and know how to handle her. The actual psychic training... a specialist from Eagleland has already been appointed.”

“Mr. Morningstar, I... I think there's something you ought to know about the appointment.”

“I thought you said there were no problems.”

“Not during the interview, no. But when I left... I had this email from the official... it seems that as she was leaving the building, she...”

I found a different kind of pen today, just waiting for me on my front door step. Its a very dark shade of blue and a slightly different model, just slightly bigger. I can't wait to see what it does. I'm going to fire it from my pen launcher directly at the Home Office building. Its what Captain Mallard would have wanted.

Front Page, November 5th, The Universal Chronicle

On the first of November, 2009, Earth calendar, the entire interplanetary branch of the Civil Service resident on the planet Earth was evacuated from the planet. No official report has gone out and a media blackout has been ordered but an investigation by our reporter has indicated that a Government experiment had gone 'catastrophically wrong'. A woman claiming to be an ex-employee of the department responsible for the project described the experiment, claiming that her colleague had been 'deleted instantly in front of her' by an 'unknown force'. Many of the officials were deleted by the same force before they could escape, including all of what she described as 'the second batch'.

Ninety minutes after the evacuation, the entire planet was erased. No inhabitants survived. The whereabouts of the test subject and another immigrant, a powerful psychic from Eagleland, are unknown. The woman was since discovered to have leaked the information and is now in a maximum security interplanetary prison under their highest surveillance level. Game Over are warning space travellers not to approach the area three worldsystems in any direction of the area around planet Earth under any circumstances, as sensors have picked up a wave of paradox backlash that may have originated from a Magnitude 6 fate distortion.

On Page 5: Diary of a Mad Conspiracy – we bring you the actual diary of the test subject from the experiment that caused the Earth Disaster!
