Daydream:
I took a walk on water today.
The ripples from each step
Tickled my feet and my thoughts.
Below me, life faded into color.
The orange and white scales
Cast out brightly to my eyes
And I tripped,
Fell on my stomach,
And took in the water.
There was no noise.
There would never need to be
Down here.
In their quiet song,
They curtsied and joined hands,
Waltzing over the mossy logs,
Through the gorging tree roots
And around the lily-pad stems
To put on a beautiful daydream
For their new audience.
I immediately took in a gasp
Of awe, and hoped it might
Finally sink me
So that I may join in on this extraordinary
Beautiful
Daydream.
But I stood,
Knowing well that I was to walk the surface.
