One, don’t get your hopes up. I’d like to reboot it, but with how my mood has been lately it’s hard to tell. I didn’t want to continue the old one, because it’s been so long and I feel my style and abilities are better now anyway. Also, I wanted to develop the characters differently.

First, only a couple name changes. Namely Jaime is Celeste, because let’s face it, I already typed ‘Meian’ as ‘Celeste’ twenty times in this one so I’m just nixing Jamie as her human name. There is another name change; actually her character is getting an overhaul and a bigger spot in this story. See if you can spot her!

Character wise, Celeste/Meian will be different, and Gene will be a lot different. Other than that their basic personalities still show through, and their human/angel names are otherwise the same.

As I said, don’t get too hopeful. I feel on/off motivation for this one, even though I like it, and I still feel this was short for a first episode. It’s been hard for me to think of anything other than Kometto High, so who knows when I’ll update again. Also, I’ve decided to be a jerk and end most with a cliff-hanger of varying degrees.

Episode One – The Return

“Wake up! I said wake up! Wake up already!”

“Eh?” A sleepy-eyed, light blue-haired girl slowly opened her darker blue eyes. She glanced up to see who had woken her. “Eh? Enkou? Why are you here?”

“I’m here because your mum was busy and she needed someone with a sledgehammer to wake you up.”

“Don’t say it like that.” The blue-haired one slipped her legs over the side of the bed and stood up, her long, straight hair falling behind her and stopped at her waist. She was wearing a light blue gown.

“Ame, you take the blue theme too far.”

“It matches!” She frowned at the fiery-red haired girl across from her. Ame was shorter, and had a slightly bustier figure, while Enkou was more athletic and taller. She wore her flame-red hair in a long French braid, and stared at Ame with half-closed crimson eyes.

“I don’t get you sometimes.” Enkou sighed. “You’d better get ready. The only reason I’m waking you up today it it’s the first day back and I knew you’d be impossible to wake up.”

“You make it sound like a chore.” Ame whined with a frown.

“Just get ready.” Enkou sighed.

“Aye, aye sir!”

“What? Never mind.” Enkou shook her head as her hand shot to her forehead. She left the room and headed downstairs. That is the most random, silly girl I’ve ever known. “Hey Mrs. N, I got her up.”

“You can just call me Izumi.” The blue-haired, older woman stated as Enkou sat at the table.

“That just freaks me out.”

“So you guys get to wear your new uniforms now?” She asked with a big smile as she placed a cup of tea before her. Enkou was wearing a white blouse with a small, dark purple ribbon under her neck, and a purple overcoat over it. She wore a matching, knee-length skirt.

“Yeah, I hate being forced to wear these things.” She smoothed out her skirt.

“Always the tomboy, eh? It’s funny how well you two get along with opposite personalities.”

“Is that a compliment or an insult?”

“Now, I’d never insult my daughter.”

“You’re as random as her, though I think a bit dangerous.”

“What’s that mean?”

“Nothing Mrs. N.”

“There you are!” Ame strolled in wearing the purple uniform.

“You look nice!” Izumi nodded.”

“Mom, that’s just embarrassing.”

“Let me fawn over you a bit!”

“We’d better get going.” Enkou stated.

“Let’s go!” Ame shouted.

“You’re too weird.” She sighed and followed her outside of the house.

“I wonder when Kury will be back.” Ame frowned.

“You know how much she hates that name. Kuroi; she hates her name as it is.”

“I could keep calling you Enny.”

“That doesn’t even make sense. At least hers is a bad pun.”

“I don’t know; it sounds like ‘Emmy’ doesn’t it?”

“I get enough of that from him.” She grumbled.

“You’re no fun.” They had been walking and stopped for a moment outside a large stone building. It had a small fence surrounding the boarders of the property with a sign on a stone pillar near the opened gates. “Speaking of him…”

“Well if it isn’t the comedy team.” A tall boy walked up to the two. He had wispy, raven-black hair and bright brown eyes. He wore the male version of the uniform, which was a dark navy jumper and matching pants.

“You shouldn’t pick a fight with someone who can beat you up, David.” Enkou growled.

“What was that? You want to try me?”

“Do you two always have to fight?” This time a blonde boy spoke up. He looked similar to David but had fluffy, short blonde hair and dark gray eyes.

“Ah, Gene!” Ame blushed slightly and moved away from him.

“I’m sorry about him.” He grabbed his brother and dragged him away from Enkou.

“That guy makes me so mad.” Enkou growled.

“I just can’t believe how different those two are.” Ame sighed softly.

“Let’s just get to class before we’re late.” Enkou grabbed her friend’s hand and dragged her towards the classroom. They took their seats in the second to last seat near the window, with Enkou taking the seat near the window and Ame beside her.

“I hate homeroom.” Ame sighed. “Especially considering our teacher.”

“He is…” Before Enkou could insult anyone, a new figure stepped through the door.

“Hello everyone!” A tall woman with light pink hair entered the classroom. She had her hair tied back on either side of her head, each patch of hair reaching out away from her head. She had a small, crescent shaped piece of hair sticking up near her forehead.

“Ah, I bet you’re all surprised!” She was wearing a pink shirt under a white blouse with blue jeans and simple sneakers. She twirled slightly as she spoke. “Well, you old teacher had to go, so I’m the new one!” She giggled. “I don’t know the details, but I’ll be taking over as your homeroom teacher and your science teacher!” The class started muttered softly.

“Well, we ditched the old one, but she’s a bit…” Enkou frowned.

“Now, now,” She glanced directly at Enkou with deep blue eyes, causing her to shiver. “Let’s not judge.” She cleared her throat. “Well kiddies, as for my name I’m Luna! Just Luna is fine as I don’t care for the ‘miss’! It’s depressing that a young beauty like me isn’t a Mrs.!” The class stared silently at her.

“You guys aren’t much fun.” She frowned. “A pretty new teacher and you won’t even play a long! Fu!” She sighed softly and took a seat at the desk, spinning around in the chair. “Do as you will then!”

“Well, at least she’s better than that old guy.” Enkou muttered.

“Be careful though, she has super hearing.” Ame responded.

“So, where should we eat lunch today? I was thinking the roof.”

“I guess, even though you know I don’t care for heights…”

“It’s so nice up there!” Enkou frowned. “What are your after school plans?”

“I was planning on going home but if you want to do something.”

“I was thinking of seeing a movie, but it sucks by myself.”

“I guess, even though I know what movie you want to see.” Sylvia sighed.

“I’m not seeing a romance.”

“But a bloody action movie isn’t that great…”

“All right kiddies, class is starting!” Luna cackled. “Let’s see what’s in those brains of yours!”

---

“Over here.” Ame scolded as she hugged the wall that held the doorway.

“Why are you so scared of heights?” Enkou sighed and joined her. “Um…” She pointed beside where Ame had sat down.

“Hm?” She followed her finger. “Ha?” She’s pretty… Ame gawked at the girl sitting a few feet beside her. She had shiny, forest-green hair tied back into a ling ponytail that rested on the ground. She was wearing a dark purple shirt and long light blue pants, while intently reading a book with blue eyes.

“Excuse, but you shouldn’t be up here.” Enkou stood in front of her. She tried to glance at the book’s title but it was covered. “Only students and staff are allowed up here.”

“Enkou,” Ame frowned as the girl stood up. She silently closed her book and walked out of sight behind the stairwell.

“Hey!” Enkou shouted and followed her. “Hey, Ame?”

“Yes?” She stood up and walked over to her friend.

“You saw that green-haired girl too, right?”

“Yeah, why?” She walked around the corner and found it empty.

“She’s gone, and there’s a ten foot fence.” She motioned at the chain-linked fence.

“She didn’t walk around the stairs, so where did she go?”

---

“Okay, I admit that movie was bad.” Enkou sighed as they came out of the theater.

“Ha, I thought it was good.” David scoffed.

“It might have been more tolerable if you weren’t there. It wasn’t crowded, why’d you sit so close to us?”

“So I had a target for my popcorn.” David snickered.

“Do you guys have to be so immature? You ruined the movie with all your inane comments.” Gene scolded.

“I didn’t mind you sitting so close…” Ame muttered softly.

“Did you say something?” Gene asked. Sylvia just shook her head.

“We’re going separate ways.” Enkou grabbed Ame and ran off.

“Idiot,” Gene smacked his brother on the shoulder. “This was a good chance.”

“Ha, why to you like that quiet chick? Not to mention she’s always around that loud one.”

“You’re just as loud.” He muttered as he headed home with his brother.

“That was a good chance ruined.” Ame muttered. “Why is that noisy guy always hanging out with him?”

“If you like him, just tell him. Gene might be able to handle it.”

“If he doesn’t like me back I couldn’t take it, especially from his brother.”

“That jerk makes me so angry.” Enkou muttered.

“We’re at your house.” Ame stated.

“Eh? Oh. Well, see you later.” She waved and walked into her home.

I’m glad my house is close. She frowned at the early setting autumn sun. Just have to cut across the park! She started a slow jog across the small park. She shivered as a cold breeze blew off the large fountain at the center. It had three stone dolphins shooting water from their spouts, which poured down a smaller fountain until it reached the bigger pool. She had just passed it when something out of the corner of her eye caught her attention.

“Huh?” She gasped as a man in a black suit laying face-down on the ground. She rushed quickly to his side. “Are you okay?” She bent down to find him unconscious. She quickly grabbed her phone out of the small purse she held at her side.

“I was going to let it go but I can’t have you calling for help.”

“Eh?” Ame glanced around but couldn’t find the voice. She gasped as her phone was knocked several feet away from her. She got up to run but something was already blocking her path.

“Well, I might as well use you too!” The woman in front of her cackled. Ame stared in horror at the tall woman before her. She was covered in some kind of dark armor that didn’t reflect the dim light, and stared down at Ame with wicked golden eyes. She had long, flowing, black hair that fell over her matching wings. It was when her eyes fell on the feathery, black wings that Ame started to really panic.

“This… isn’t possible!” Ame slowly backed away and tried to run, but the woman moved in front of her.

“Since you’re going to be one of my minions, I’ll introduce myself.”

“Minions?” Ame gulped and backed away again.”

“Like that one there.” She pointed at the previously unconscious man, who slowly got up as black wings burst out of his back. A strange, black material flowed out of him until he was covered in black armor like the woman. He slowly got up, facing the two with hollow, black eyes.

“I am Yaku. My friend doesn’t have a name yet, but we can come up with one together!” The man stumbled by Yaku’s side. “After you join us.” She cackled as he stood silently by her. “He’s still a little out of it.” She frowned and turned back towards Ame. “Now,” She reached out with her hand, a large fireball appearing in it. The fire spread out, forming a long, sword shape. The fire extinguished in a burst of smoke and left a katana in her hand. “Let’s make you a little more obedient! Oh, don’t worry; this sword won’t kill you. Just make you a little more… friendly!” Yaku cackled as Ame stumbled backwards on the ground.

What’s going on? Why is this all happing? She glanced at the man staring blankly at her. Help me! I don’t want to become like that… I don’t want my life to end like this! She gasped as Yaku brought down her sword and everything went black.

“What? Impossible? Why are you here?” Ame slowly opened her eyes a few moments later, her vision still blurred with darkness.

I got cut… but I’m not dead? Another form stood in her vision between her and Yaku. Another winged woman stood before her. Pretty… Her mind echoed. The woman had long, purple hair tied back in a ponytail, and large, feather black wings. She cast a quick glance back with violet eyes before turning towards Yaku. The recently lit park lights glinted of the tip of a large scythe that she held in her hands.

“Meian? Meian?” Yaku shrieked. “Why are you here? How are you here? You disappeared…”

“Silence.” Meian demanded. “I won’t have you harming these humans.”

“Ha, that’s funny,” Yaku gasped and jumped back as Meian swung her scythe. “You’re joking right? This is some kind of joke.” She jumped back as Meian swung again.

“I’ve woken up, Yaku.” She stepped towards her.

“Ha… Ha, ha!” Yaku burst into laughter. “Fine, I’ve always wanted a chance at you!” Yaku charged forward, bringing her sword down. Meian easily blocked it with the handle of her scythe, and was about to bring the blade down on her when something stopped it. “See? It’s too late for them!” She cackled as Ame held onto the upper part of the scythe.

Huh? My body moved on its own… Why can’t I move?

“I see.” Meian made a quick movement, knocking Ame onto her backside.

I didn’t even feel that… I just don’t want anyone hurt.

“Where are you looking?” Meian gasped as a blast of fire exploded in her face. She managed to shield herself and back away. “My previous new lackeys, why don’t you take a shot?” Ame watched, still stunned on the ground as the other man charged forward. Meian brought her weapon back to strike. Ame gasped as the weapon reached the man and everything went dark again.

---

What kind of dream is this? Why did my life suddenly become a nightmare? I don’t want to be a zombie for that woman. I don’t want to see anyone hurt… Why?

Do you wish for power?”

Great, now I’m hearing voices. I don’t like being insane.

You’re not insane!” The voice scolded. “Just answer the question.”

Why would I answer the strange voice? No, I don’t want anything ridiculous like that. I just want to help them…

Good answer. Even if you don’t remember everything, or even how to use it, I don’t mind you having my power. After all, now you’re a part of me.”

---

“Ha…” Sylvia gasped as her vision cleared. A dream? No… She found herself with her right arm raised over her head. She followed her arm to see a small, blue-handled dagger in her hand. The dagger had blocked Yaku’s katana. Ame slowly glanced behind her to see Meian kneeling on the ground as strange, black energy crackled around her.

“Impossible…” Yaku stared intently at Ame. “What are you doing?”

“I won’t let you hurt anyone.” Ame declared, wondering where the confidence came from.

“That armor…” Yaku growled and kicked Ame in the stomach, knocking her back. She gasped as she landed on the soft ground again.

Soft? Ame yelped as she realized she landed on soft, feather sky-blue wings. She slowly glanced down. She was now wearing armor similar to the other two, a strange metallic-cloth that was extremely form fitting, only hers was the same sky-blue as her wings.

“I’ll deal with you in a moment.” She turned towards Meian only to find her gone. “Huh?”

“You’re mine.” Meian held her scythe at Yaku’s neck from behind.

“You recovered from that so quickly.” Yaku scoffed. “As expected of my sensei. Well, I always have an escape plan.” Meian jumped back as Yaku burst into flame, completely surrounded. The fire quickly extinguished, leaving but feint smoke in her place.

What’s happening? She gasped as she remembered the other victim. She glanced over to find him on the ground, intact and looking human once more. She let off a sigh of relief only to stumble over a moment later as Meian slashed at her. “What are you doing?”

“I cannot allow those affected by darkness to remain like this.” She frowned slightly as she stared intently at Ame.

“I’m fine! Sort of…” She scooted away from her. I dropped the dagger, what can I hope to do?

“Yaku’s technique must be improving. I will not be blinded by such tricks.”

There’s got to be something! Ame gasped as her hands moved on their own, her right hand pulling back as a series of blue sparkles appeared before her. Her right hand reached out as they vanished, revealing a blue bow. She released the string and gasped as a blue arrow shot towards Meian. She jumped back and slashed the arrow in half only to find her scythe covered in ice.

“Yousha?” Meian gasped. “That… shouldn’t be possible.” She slammed the scythe on the ground, shattering the ice. The weapon vanished in a black mist a moment later.

“Yousha?” It feels nostalgic somehow.

“No memory…” Meian muttered. “I don’t know how this happened, but it answers a few things.” She glanced at the unconscious man. “Leave here now before he awakens.”

“Wait!” Yousha gasped as Meian vanished in a dark mist. “At least tell me if I can,” She gasped as her vision was filled with a blue light. She found herself in her normal outfit after it vanished. She quickly ran towards her home, forgetting about the other victim.

“You’re late!” Her mother greeted as she ran into the house.

“Sorry, I really need a bath!” Ame ran into the upstairs bathroom before her mother could respond. She quickly warmed up the water and hoped in. She slid herself under the water.

Was that real? Did that really happen? She glanced behind her, but found her normal back. After she finished soaking for several minutes, she finally stepped out and stared at herself in the counter mirror.

“I look normal.” She sighed and closed her eyes. Wings go! She opened her eyes and found herself looking normal. “What am I doing?” She sighed and dressed in her pajamas.

“Honey, are you okay? Want some supper?” Her mother asked as she stepped out.

“No, I’m really tired.” She muttered and slumped to her bed, leaving a worried mother behind as she fell into her bed. I’ll just consider it a side effect of that movie. She yawned and fell asleep.

---

I feel like I’m flying! Actually, I’m a bit… Ame gasped as her eyes shot open. “Eh?” She caught a glimpse of the ceiling before she fell back on her bed. She bounced off and fell onto the floor, her wings spread out behind her. “Eh?”

“Ame dear, are you okay?” Her mother called.

“Fine! I’m awake!”

“You sure? Are you sick? You sound odd.”

“I’m fine!” Ame laughed nervously. She quickly got up and glanced in the mirror stationed on her closet. “It wasn’t a dream.” She blinked at the amount of blue reflected in the mirror. “What should I do? I can’t go to school like this.” She slowly glanced behind her. “Still, I have to know…” She reached out and grabbed her right wing, slowly rubbing it. “I can actually feel that…” She closed her eyes and yelped as she pulled a feather out. “Definitely.” She frowned and opened her eyes to find herself back to normal. “Eh?” She still held the blue feather in her hand.

“I won’t think about it too much. I just hope it doesn’t happen at school.”

“Ame?” Enkou called from downstairs. “Move it or we’ll be late!” Ame quickly changed and rushed downstairs. “Wow, you look terrible.”

“Thanks Enkou.” Ame frowned at her friend as they stepped outside. “I didn’t sleep well, and then I over slept.”

“Where’d you get that?” She pointed to the feather in Ame’s ear.

“I just found that laying around.” She laughed nervously. Even though it doesn’t seem to be there, it’s still a little sore. Maybe my wings are just invisible or something. This sound ridiculous even in my head. I’d like to tell her, but… I trust her and she’s my best friend yet I can’t bring myself to tell her.

“Ame? Hello? Don’t walk into things!”

“Huh?” Ame came back to reality as Enkou waved her hand in front of her.

“We’re here.” She pointed towards the large school building, which Ame had almost passed. “Are you sure you’re okay?”

“Yeah, just a bit out of it.”

“You’re not hiding something from me, are you?”

“Why would you say that?” Ame stared at her friend.

“I’ve known you that long.” She stated as they entered the building. They passed by their lockers and headed towards their usual seats in the class, this time avoiding David, and missing Gene.

“So why’d you sleep so poorly?” Enkou asked.

“I just had these weird dreams.” Ame sighed as they sat down. “I kept tossing and turning too.”

“Hello kiddies, nice day for homeroom!” Luna hummed as she walked in. “We have a little business today! Through an amazing coincidence, we have a transfer student!” She motioned towards the door as a tall girl, with flowing green hair tied back into a ponytail and dark blue eyes walked into the room. She wore the same purple and white uniform as the other girls, and had a cold look on her face as the class stared intently at her.

“This here is Celeste! She’s from a foreign place, but she’s pretty fluent!” Luna finished. Celeste bowed slightly and took a seat behind Ame. The class immediately flooded around her.

“Isn’t that girl…” Enkou was quickly interrupted.

“Where are you from? What do you use on your hair? Do you live around here?” Several questions flew at Celeste.

“Guys, leave her alone! She just got here.” David interrupted. The class split apart as he walked past. “Besides, the most important question is, are you single?” He asked with a broad grin. Enkou growled and was about to get out of her seat but Celeste’s reaction took care of it. She looked up, glaring at the young boy.

“Be gone.” She stated firmly. The class quickly dispersed, leaving Celeste by herself at her seat. Enkou quickly turned around.

“So where are you from?” Ame asked only to receive a cold glare.

Read the mood, you idiot! Rather, do you even remember her from yesterday? Enkou sighed as her friend continued talking to her.

“That’s not an answer!”

“I do not wish to socialize.” She stated coldly.

“Come on, we’re neighbors!” Ame received another glare. “I won’t let that deter me!” Ame grinned.

“Coming here was a mistake.” Celeste muttered.

“What was that?” Ame asked.

“I said be silent.” Celeste responded.

“Well, class is starting!” Luna interrupted. “Oh. And Ame, there’s something I need from you after school.” The class all stared back at her.

“I didn’t do anything!” She gulped.

“Oh, you’re not in trouble. I just need to talk to you.”

“I guess you’ll be busy tonight!” Enkou snickered as Ame slammed her head into the desk.

What could she possibly want?

---

“What did you want?” The class had cleared out after the impossibly long day, and Ame stood in front of the desk where Luna sat with her feet up. Ame fidgeted nervously as Luna eyed her. “What is it?” She asked again.

“Could you come with me?” Luna asked as she stood up.

“Where? I don’t think my grades are that bad…”

“Well, they could use work but this is more of a personal matter.” Luna grabbed her hand and dragged her along.

“Hey! What’s this all about?” Ame gasped as she was pulled through the school hallways.

“Here’s a good spot.” She shoved her into the empty teacher’s lounge and shut the door behind her. She pulled down the window shade on the door and locked it.

“Um, I’m getting a bit scared now.” Sylvia backed away from her.

“Don’t be afraid; just show me everything you got.”

“Now I’m terrified.” Ame gulped and backed to the other side of the room.

“Don’t worry about a thing! It’s painless after all.” She stated as she advanced on Ame.
