A fleeting memory

Lost in time

A person long gone

That you can never find

Your heart aches

With unseen pain

Tears resurface

Over and over again

Old wounds since healed

That still hurt to touch

A loving somebody

That you miss so much

Photo’s in frames

Just isn’t enough

A life once easy

Now suddenly tough

A ragged chunk

Savagely ripped away

Words left unsaid

That you never got to say

You wish it were easy

To return to the past

The time they’ve been gone

Hasn’t gone at all fast

You wish you could remember

Every word and smile

A bittersweet happiness

That’s only there for a while

They meant the world

And so much more

There deaths shocked you

Right to the core

They say it gets easier

But it’s a bold face lie

How is it moving on

When you still want to cry.

It’s a cruel end

To a love so right

In a tunnel of darkness

They were the only light.
