A Wild Thing

I’m older and tired of conforming

I want to reject my confirmation

When I was little I used to play house

And now I wonder on earth why

Did I seek to be an adult before my time

I want to be small again

Ungrowup

I want to run

JUMP

And

LEAP

Through my secret paradise forest again

I want to be

A

WILD THING

Just once more

Just for another day

I want to build sandcastles

So strong

That they’ll

NEVER EVER NEVER

Fall down

Because they’re well defended

By a wall of pink seashells

My strong passagewayfilled snow fort

Can never melt

Even in the hottest July weather

Because obviously

It’s the coolest one ever

And God won’t let it melt

I want to run through the forest

I want to scream

Eat all the ice cream I please

Not worrying about fat calories

Just once again

I

Want to be

A WILD THING
