Act one, scene one.

(The curtain opens and the lights go on. We are in a classroom with dozens of students talking about how their summer went. 4 friends are sitting in the front. Jordan, Finn, Alex, and Tristan. Paper planes are flying all over the place and Finn and Tristan shake their heads).

Finn – Another year at Lake Weymouth High School.

Tristan –Good thing that we’re seniors

Finn, Jordan, Alex and Tristan – Yeah… Good thing

Alex. – Hey… At least I made it in the track team this year. I tried out last year but I fractured my leg at the first practice.

Tristan – Yeah, you tripped over another teammate and landed on your knee.

Finn – Hopefully that the same thing doesn’t happen this year on the track team.

Jordan – Oh god! I hope that Mrs. Aaron isn’t here this year. I heard that she retired. I hope that’s true.

Finn – I don’t think I can take another year of her yelling at the top of her lungs.

Tristan – Or her 13 page essays that were due every Thursday.

(Another student whispers in Alex’s ear and he punches the air).

Alex – Yes! She’s not here! She’s retired.

(Finn, Tristan and Jordan also punch the air)

Alex - Oh, wow, man, I said

Tristan - Wait a second, man, what do you think the teacher's going to look like this year?

Alex - Fuck man!

(Enter Mrs. Reynolds, their new English teacher. All of the boys in the classroom stand out of their chairs and look at her in amazement. Finn tips back in his chair and hits his head on the desk in back of him)

Finn – Uh!

Alex - Oh yeah!

Mrs. Reynolds – Sit down, and get out your textbooks.

Tristan - T-T-teacher stop that screamin'. Teacher don't you see? Don't wanna be no uptown fool. Maybe I should go to hell, but I am doing well. Teacher needs to see me after school.

Jordan & Alex - I think of all the education that I've missed. But then my homework was never quite like this!

(Finn gets off the ground but is still spell bounded by Mrs. Reynolds beauty. He sits down in his seat and pulls out his notebook)

Tristan – Ow!

Jordan, Finn, & Alex – Got it bad, got it bad, got it bad.

Alex – I’m hot for teacher.

Jordan, Finn, & Tristan – I’ve got it bad, so bad.

Jordan – I’m hot for teacher.

Finn – (walking up to Mrs. Reynolds) Hey, I heard you missed us. We're back!

Mrs. Reynolds – Ah, you must be Mr. Finnegan Amandusson. Your mother is from Sweden… Right? Mrs. Aaron told me about you.

(The students snigger at Finn’s full name and he blushes. He walks away from Mrs. Reynolds and goes back to his seat as a few students laugh at his full name).

Mrs. Reynolds – Turn to page 312 in your textbooks

Finn (still talking to Mrs. Reynolds) - I brought my pencil. (Turning to Alex) Give me something to write on, man!

Alex – (While Mrs. Reynolds sits down at her desk) Whoa, uh!

Jordan - Ooo-oo-ooo

Finn - I heard about your lessons but lessons are so cold.

Alex - I didn't know about this school. Little girl from Cherry Lawn. How can you be so bold? How did you know that golden rule?

Tristan & Jordan - I think of all the education that I've missed. But then my homework was never quite like this!

Tristan – Woah!

Jordan, Alex, & Tristan – Got it bad, got it bad, got it bad.

Finn – I’m hot for teacher.

Jordan, Alex, & Finn – I’ve got it bad, so bad

Tristan – Woah!

(A guitarist from the band room runs into the class room and starts to play a guitar solo. The students go wild and Mrs. Reynolds gapes in amazement. Students are dancing on their desks. The school art teacher Mr. Harrison grabs the guitarist by the tip of his shirt and throws him out of the room).

Mr. Harrison – Get back to class!

Tristan – Oh man! I think the clock is slow.

Finn – (turning to Jordan) Hey, what are you doing this weekend?

Alex – I don’t feel tardy.

(The class bell rings and the students jump out of their seats).

Finn – CLASS DISMISED!!

(The students push Finn to the ground and he gets trampled over. Jordan helps him up and Finn brushes off his new jeans.)

Finn – Ooh, yeah!

Jordan, Finn, Alex, & Tristan - I've got it bad, got it bad, got it bad, I'm hot for teacher! I've got it bad, got it bad, got it bad, I’m hot for teacher!

Jordan - Whoa! Oh! Ooh, yes I'm hot! Wow!

Finn - Whoa! Oh! Ooh, yes I'm hot! Wow!

Tristan – Oh my god!

Alex – Woo!

(Song ends).

(Finn and Alex exit the room while Jordan and Tristan stare at Mrs. Reynolds).

Mrs. Reynolds – Can I help you boys?

Jordan and Tristan – (at the same time) No.

Mrs. Reynolds – Well shouldn’t you be going to class?

Jordan – Actually… I do need some tutoring after school today. I have a science test in 3 weeks and it’s not my best subject.

Mrs. Reynolds – Well, I’d be glad to help you, meet me after school today.

(Jordan nods his head and nudges Tristan in the shoulder).

Jordan – Watch and learn, kid. Watch and learn.

Tristan – I can’t believe that you…

(He looks back at Mrs. Reynolds and then looks at Jordan. The second bell rings and the boys take off to their next class).
