The Grecian GazettE

A Jolt to Democracy

By Takashima Kouyou, AKA Uruha

Athens-Today, a big shock has come to the world as we know it. Cleisthenes of the Alcmaeonid family has died. Cleisthenes was rumored to have been poisoned by his slave when served his noon meal. His burial service will be on June 30. Please come and pay your respects to this idealistic man who changed Athens. Cleisthenes was born in Athens to a very powerful family but strongly disagreed with the idea of aristocrats ruling. After he gained the support of the people of Athens, Cleisthenes overthrew the aristocrats and developed a democracy run by and for the common people. Democracy shall continue in Athens, hopefully more powerful with Cleisthenes' memory to motivate his followers.
