Hurting, she looks to me.

I don’t know what to do.

She suffers from so much

what can I do to help?

She says heaven sent me

for her rough nights.

All I can do is hold her.

Speechless, unsure of what

she needs.

All I can do is hold her.

But, she needs more and I

know it.

Trusting, she turns her eyes up.

She looks to me.

All I can do is hold her.

Laying on the bed

she closes her eyes.

I’m not there.
--

Now she is gone.

She looked to me,

saying that heaven sent me

for her rough nights.

Now she is gone.

I didn’t know what to do.

I didn’t have the words.

She was beyond me.

Now she is gone.

--

I wasn’t there.

Holding her wasn’t enough.

She looked to me.

Now she is gone.

I can never hold her again.

Laying on the bed, on my side,

she shut her eyes for the final time.

She looked to me.
