The Janitor

Hey get to class,

well if it's time for that

Would mind if we chat

there's something I want to say

Some days I laugh

cuz a long way back

I thought I'd be teachin' here

Life has more meaning then just me cleaning

You see, all started back high school when just age

I had friend Jenny who was gonna be a star on the stage

we were going steady

We were in my car

Just a few kisses

We never planned to get that far

But on a crisp fall day

She told she was the family way

I quit school, what else could I do?

I started workin' Tom's hardwire store

Got myself up to a manager on the 2nd floor

But soon my wages couldn't feed us any more

One night after work I found note

Half a page was all she wrote

After our fight

She booked flight

To some distant shore

And I'd never see her anymore

It hurt, and I got fired the stress at work

The only job I could find

I had to pick up a mop

And every now then I stop

And talk to a kid

To keep them from doing what I did
