‘’OKAY! I don’t care whoever you are, whatever you are! YOU HAVE GOT TO GO!’’ I said out loud pacing on a lone spot near the school grounds.
It was near insanity. I couldn’t live with this leech of a thing for the rest of my life. It was freaking me out already and Emma was already exchanging weird glances with Kelly who as usual didn’t notice anything very peculiar.
‘’ I’m staying,’’
My jaw dropped open, ‘’W-what?!’’ I stuttered.
‘’it horrifies me too,’’
‘’B-but why?!’’
‘’Think that someone sent me to help you,’’
I put my hands on my hips, raising an eyebrow, ‘’Help?’’ I asked. My tone dripped skepticism. ‘’and who might that be? Aliens?’’
‘’Someone…you don’t need to know that,’’
‘’and what help is that?’’
‘’you’ll see,’’
I hitched my bag, ‘’Okay but don’t interfere in my business, ‘’I said in a bossy voice, ‘’and are you even human? A living breathing human?’’
‘’hmm,’’ My question amused it, ‘’Yes or maybe I’m just in your head.’’
I stared at the wall. That had been in my mind all day. What if it was just a figment of my imagination? What if all this just a part of me. Part of my ego.
Emma’s firebird had been honking for the past one minute. Shooting an inquiring look behind, I hurried over to her.
I could finish this, later.

It was like constant buzzing was going on in my head. I was never alone. Never.
Throwing my book on my bed in sheer frustration, I looked over at the bean bag where there was a clear outline of someone sitting.
My eyes darted for the clock to see the time. It was striking nine.
‘’Can you leave the room?’’ I asked, scowling.
‘’why?’’
‘’because I can’t do anything with you sitting here!’’
‘’and what do you want to do?’’
My scowl darkened at the hidden innuendo. Pursing my lips, I tried again ‘’that’s my business,’’
‘’you’ll never know if I’m gone’’
I slapped my forehead, ‘’If you have…a bit of decency in you! Then you’ll go,’’
There was silence.
Then the door opened itself and slammed shut rattling the things on my dresser.
Ghosts were powerful?
I spent the time memorizing my SAT list and head banging to one of Lamb of God’s songs which I hoped sucked in any sub conscious self of mine that was meandering out.
At about 11, I went downstairs and made myself some cereal- my favorite late night snake. There was absolute peace in the kitchen. In the living room, Dad was watching the news but other than it was quiet.
No random voices were echoing around me. I closed my eyes and for one moment thought that the ‘Voice’ had really disappeared for good.
I missed the time where there was no voice speaking in my ear. I was normal before being chased by this- this…this monstrosity.
I put a mouthful of cereal in my mouth.
I rinsed the bowl and padded upstairs, into my room. Ian was hogging the computer, staring at the screen for what seemed like hours now. He was going to look like a zombie tomorrow.
Stepping in cautiously, I turned on the lamp so that faint yellow light spread all over my bed and on the carpet.
My eyes went over to the bean bag and noticed the loose lines. No one was sitting on it. I smirked to myself, closing the door.
Ah! I could do my bit to annoy somebody.

I shot a cursory look at myself in the mirror the next morning as I got ready for school. Star stripped pants and a plaid shirt with sneakers. My hair was pulled back in a ponytail like it always was. I never had them loose; it annoyed me to find hair falling all over my face and that too curly hair.
I climbed the stairs and glided in to the kitchen. A second later, Ian lumbered in raking a hand in his wavy hair. I half suspected him to scratch his arm pits and yawn just like an ape but I was disappointed.
He scraped back the chair and sat down while I pulled open the refrigerator.
‘’Uh, Amber?’’ he called.
I brought out the juice, answering ‘’yeah?’’
‘’You have blood on your …back,’’
I blanched. My head shooting out of the fridge to spin around and face Ian who was grinning broadly; my face grew very hot as I put one hand behind me to touch my a$$.
Ian started guffawing almost falling off the chair in the middle holding his side and wiping off the fake tears that had come in his eyes.
‘’You…’’ he sputtered, ‘’you…You…’’ and howled some more, repeating the same word over and over again like a retard.
I scowled when I felt nothing. My stupid A**hole brother! He acted like a boy who had just learnt what periods were.
Oh, wait. That was possible.
I slapped the juice on the counter, throwing him the dirtiest glare possible. He was now snorting like a pig.
‘’You’re one douche bag,’’ I spat as I picked up my bag and stormed outside.
The sky was overcast. My neck turned towards my neighbor’s side and saw Landon starting the engine. Jumping over the hedge, I stomped where the Hybrid was.
Pulling open the car door without any warning, I automatically jabbered ‘’ my brother is being a douche. Let’s go,’’
Landon didn’t even ask as he reversed and pressed on the pedal. With a hint of satisfaction, I craned my head back to see Ian running out of the house possibly screaming.
‘’Uh thanks,’’ I repeated the only sentences I had said to him.
‘’No problem,’’ He said, looking in the rear view mirror. We totally sounded like robots.
I settled back. It was weird definitely to sit beside him in the car like this. Landon had a very bitter break up with his girlfriend a month ago. Eliza Patterson aka as the biggest cut throat b*tch anybody has ever seen had been screaming at him while everybody stared.
Talk about Public displays of breaking up.
Still it was enjoyable.
Emma had came skidding towards me, ‘’Oh my God!’’ she had said excitedly, ‘’Landon! Eliza! PDB!’’ she even clapped her hands together.
Yeah, we crossed off the ‘up’ in our acronym.
I tried to find out what everybody saw in him besides the unnatural good looks and went quite lost in that thought.
He had such…such…beautiful eyes…oh they sparkled!
Landon parted his lips, ‘’you know, ‘’ he drawled, ‘’ it’s rude to stare,’’ He had a nice husky voice that went well with his Hot face.
I snapped out of my reverie, blanching and sitting up straight. Cursing myself, I kept my gaze straight ahead and nowhere else.
‘’I wasn’t staring,’’ I said. ‘’ I was looking over at the other side,’’
From the corner of my eye, I saw Landon give his hair a flick ‘’ yeah, I’m sure you were doing that,’’ he rolled his eyes. A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips. A smile that denied what I had said.
‘’Having fun, b*tch?’’
I almost shrieked right there before clamping a hand over my mouth and squeezing the side of my seat. Landon’s neck turned over at my face.
‘’Are you Okay? ‘’ he asked eying me as if I was a weird specimen.
‘’Yeah,’’ I squeaked. Everything was okay…nothing was wrong…EXCEPT THE VOICE!
IT-IT HAD…CHANGED.
