The Secret

Most people don’t think their teachers have much of a life outside of high school, or even have any crazy beliefs. But, in high school, I had a math teacher who, not only was she out there, opened my mind to the possibilities of having, legit, everything you wish for come true.

She called it The Secret. The Secret, she explained, was one of the easiest things you could do to improve your life. She told us a story about how she was pregnant with one of her daughters. Every day, she would imagine (almost like day dreaming, I guess) that her pregnancy would be easy and painless. Every day, she pictured herself delivering her child and told herself it would be as easy as pie. And when she finally found herself in that hospital bed, she didn’t even go through labor. Her child was born quick and easy, just like she imagined.

This almost seemed too good to be true. If The Secret was real, wouldn’t more people be living happy, successful lives?

And then I found the official website. On the homepage, it says exactly this:

Could something like this really be true? If we focus hard enough and truly believe something, could we really improve our lives, just by simply day dreaming of what we want? I guess that is something we will have to figure out on our own. If you believe it and if you want it bad enough, you can get it!
