Heart On A Leash
By Josh Rittenhouse

I took a walk with my heart on a leash.
I stopped to study the leaves on the trees.
I had a talk with all the birds and the bees.
Then I walked on again.

I turned the corner and I came to your house.
I stopped to notice you had all your lights out.
I took a moment to scream and to shout.
Then I walked on again.

I've got a problem with my heart on its leash.
It makes me shudder every time that it beats.
It follows me up and down all of the streets.
Am I leading it or does it lead me?

I went to the park and watch the pretty girls pass.
Then I lay down to fall asleep on the grass.
I had a nightmare about things from the past.
Then I walked on again.

I'm waiting out here and my head is a mess.
My ears are ringing and I'm full of distress.
I can't stop thinking about what's under your dress.
Then I walk on again.

I've got a problem with my heart on its leash.
It makes me shudder every time that it beats.
It follows me up and down all of the streets.
Am I leading it or does it lead me?
