Pen And Paper

I stare at the blank piece of paper in front of me, that is not really a paper and wonder when we traded in pen and paper for Microsoft word and ink jets. Is it really a mystery that we struggle to find pens in our draws and on our desks, while computer ink which is 100 times more expensive, is never absent in our printers. So let’s instead say I stare at a blank computer screen with a fake paper plastered across it and wonder what I can write next. My heart craves a story: a mystery to be solved, a love to be explained, a grief to be conquered, and my mind fights to write, hey that flows, sort of. Yes by now you must be thinking is this person really a writer or is she just an over confident fake. I assure you however that I am a writer, but I must warn you my definition of a writer is anyone who loves to write. My brain is not the best of brains, I can’t do sums faster than Pythagoras, nor can I begin to understand rocket science, I’m not to good at writing to explain, to inform, to advise, to argue, or, to persuade really, but I can write. I guess anyone can write if you look up the dictionary definition of it; put words on paper. I know what you’re thinking know, Ha ha very funny but when are you going to actually write write, but be patient my loyal readers, please, I am getting there, albeit slowly. As I was saying I can’t do all of those things but I can use words to create substance, worlds with fairies, werewolves and unicorns, ships with ninja’s, businesses run by pirates, love stories with sad endings and love stories with happy endings, mental breakdowns and big bullies, a place to escape or a place to enjoy. Every possible thing you can imagine and every impossible thing you can not quite comprehend. To a writer, to me, anything can be real, characters you love to hate, and characters you just can’t get enough of, characters with long girly blond hair, characters with 2 lip peircings and a badly done nose job, characters who only eat red apples, and characters who drive Volvos. And you may think that how can it be real to you, you make it up, you know it’s not real, but you must understand, we are the writers. It’s what we do.
