Proluge

The Beginning

In the chill of the early morning, so early that even the early rising leader was still sleeping silently in his spot, Sandri’s pups awoke. For the first time in their whole thirteen days of life, they could see. And, of course, so could all of the other pups, and they woke their mothers up in their fight to see all of the things that they had been surrounded by since birth but unable to see.

One of Sandri’s pups, Ammela, was thrilled by this fact and couldn’t wait to see her mother for the first time. She had heard her, and felt her of course, but she had never seen her before. As she squirmed around under the others, she caught a glimpse of Sandri. She had never seen any animal before this moment, but she thought that her mother was exceeding lovely.

Her fur caught in the new sunlight and it shone in every color that was her coat. Blacks and browns caught Ammela’s eyes and she stared at her for what felt like an eternity, but it must have been only a moment, and soon she was laying on her back with a new puppy standing directly over her.

“Hi!” he said, “I’m Essa!” his toung hanging out of his mouth.

“I’m Ammela. What are you?” she was curios, he looked nothing like her family.

“Silly, I’m a pup! Just like you, just like my sisters, and just like every one else here. Other than the mothers and fathers,” she knew that. But, Essa was different. He had a black coat with flecks of golden brown. He looked almost like her family, only less puffy.

“Ammela! Pense! Sirena! Leise! Come to me!” Sandri called in her deep voice.

“G’bye” said Essa to her retreating figure.

What an odd boy, she thought to herself. Little did she know how much she would depend on him throughout their lives…
