The Shooter

My aunt was shot as a child while walking to school with friends by an Ex Vietnam Veteran. I have often tried to understand what motivated him to fire on young children. Here I try to tell his side of the story. R&R I worked hard on this!

A/N My aunt was shot as a child while walking to school with friends by an Ex Vietnam Veteran. My dad said that man the man, "Thought he was back in Vietnam." I often wondered why the man did that. Here I try to explain what happened from prospective of the solider. Please REVEIW this was very emotional for me so please share your thoughts.

The Shooter

The man rubs his eyes and rolls from bed

All the Whiskey bottles clatter by his head

Out the street four children stumble

Through the thick snow off to school

The man holds his coffee and looks out the window

He saw four figures approaching wearing brown

Slowly he squinted watching the street

It must be the VC come to kill me

But this time I won't retreat he vows

Slowly he lifted his Winchester down the wall

Today he would kill them all

Lifting the rifle he sighed the figure

Gritting his yellow teeth he squeezed the trigger

After a roll like thunder

A child did tumble

The children scurried

To get away from the bullet's wild hail

Out in road a police siren wails

When they broke down man's door

The man dropped rifle from his hand

He smiled at them happily for he just defended his home, his country and his land
