The Shell
By Josh Rittenhouse

I saw you in the shell today.
I liked not what I saw.
I cracked and broke the outer edge,
but couldn't break it all.

I saw you in the shell today.
I brought a tool to help.
You escaped for a small time,
But a tether kept you held.

I saw you in the shell today.
I wonder if it's real.
I pulled you out and held you close,
So, now how do you feel?

I saw you in the shell today.
I cracked it with my might.
I kissed you soft, so gently.
But now we say "Goodnight".

I see you in your shell today.
Not knowing what you feel.
I hope I'm right and not just wrong.
I want it to be real.....
